I get to do the work—because without it, I wouldn’t be me.
Taking time off gave me space to pause and reflect. Who am I? What are my values? What is my purpose? Asking these questions is no small thing—it’s a journey into the depths of our being. The swamp of our souls. To dig deep. Without influence. Without noise. Just truth.
It’s work. And for a long time, I used to say, “I have to do this work.” But now I see it differently: the work is a gift.
This gift has taught me courage. It’s given me the strength to say, I’m an artist. It’s clarified my values: care, honesty, integrity. It’s reminded me that when I feel lost or afraid, clinging to anything for safety, I can lean into love—because I am love.
The work is the essence of who I am. It shapes what I create, how I share myself with the world, and how I nurture the greater garden we all belong to.
Today, I left the house wearing gold eyeliner. I looked in the mirror and thought, “I feel pretty.” And you know what? Because of the work, I’ve never felt more me.
So here’s my reminder for all of us: we don’t have to do the work—we get to do the work. Even when it’s hard. Even when everything you know is shifting. Even when the world pulls you away from your truth.
Lean in, sweet friend. The work is a gift. And your truth is waiting for you.
