CCSF Office of Workforce Development! Join John Halpin, Interim AVC of Workforce Development, City College of San Francisco (CCSF), and the Office of Workforce Development Team, on Labor Day, coming up on Monday, September 7th, as we honor the National Holiday (CCSF is closed on September 7th). At CCSF, we celebrate the people whose work makes opportunity possible. Here, workforce development begins with our own workforce. Every day, faculty, department chairs, classified professionals, and administrators bring their knowledge, skill, and commitment to serving our students and our City of San Francisco.
Their collective work creates pathways to education, career advancement, and economic mobility—whether teaching in a classroom or lab, supporting a student through a difficult moment, connecting someone to their first job or internship, building partnerships with employers and community organizations, or doing the essential work behind the scenes that keeps the College moving forward.
As we celebrate Labor Day and observe September 2026 Workforce Development Month, I’m grateful for everyone across CCSF whose work helps our students build better futures for themselves, their families, and our community. Photo: John Halpin, Chancellor Messina, Office of Workforce Development Team.

CCSF Serves Justice Impacted Students! Chancellor Kimberlee Johnson Messina was featured in City and County of San Francisco Sheriff Paul Miyamoto's August 2026 Newsletter for service to Justice Impacted Students. "For years, the San Francisco Sheriff's Office has partnered with Five Keys Schools and Programs and City College of San Francisco to bring higher education directly into our jails. At the center of that effort is Chancellor Kimberlee Messina, who has championed the belief that a college education is a path forward, not just for students on campus, but for those navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives," reported the Sheriff. CCSF Workforce Development Month, September 2026!

At CCSF, there is no single path from education to opportunity.

Our students are preparing for careers in healthcare, technology, skilled trades, business, public service, the creative industries, and many other fields that keep San Francisco and the Bay Area moving forward.

Throughout September, we’ll highlight the students, programs, and partnerships that connect education with careers. We’ll also share opportunities for students to explore careers, build professional skills, gain work experience, and connect with employers.

Whether a student is beginning a career, changing careers, earning a certificate or degree, preparing to transfer, or building new skills for advancement, City College can be part of the journey.

Follow along throughout September as we celebrate Workforce Development Month at CCSF. More info: https://www.ccsf.edu/academics/career-education/about-office-workforce-development
