Teaching art at Union Square Park is such a fun experience! Downtown SF is happening and people come from all over the world to visit (and I get to meet them!). This past Crafternoon, where I taught air dry clay plant holders, people came from Turkey, China, India, Korea and Hong Kong! Making art together brings people together❤️ airplantholder

Crafternoons at Union Square Park are sooo much fun! And dictionaries and old maps are full of great inspiration. Choose a word or an illustration and…you’re off! Check out this beautiful work by 3 of the people who popped by to paint! Angel (the adorable, and appropriately named, 9 year old) did a portrait of my dog Georgie, then gifted it to me!!! It’s already framed and on my wall🥰I’ll be there the 4th Thursday of the month from 4:30-6:30 through September. Come by and make art for free!!!

Introducing…Huey! I made this little needle felted color wheel for my dear and amazing friend, Laura Guido-Clark, for her recent birthday. Check her out! . Laura is a color specialist extraordinaire. She and I share a love of color and realize its power and potential to transform a mood or the feel of an object or a space. I’ve been having so much fun teaching color theory. It’s so cool to see that from mixing just 3 basic primary colors - red, yellow and blue - all colors come. And even within a color there are variations (warm or cool tones), which each elicit different emotions. My favorite color is lemon yellow. To me it’s bright and happy and makes me feel alive. What’s yours? Why? How does it make you feel?

Making art together brings families and friends closer! I was so honored to spend the President’s Day holiday with these talented people - most of whom never make art, if you can believe it! Creating is such a wonderful way to spend time with yourself and others. Come take a class and bring the whole family! •

Making air dry clay ornaments at Union Square on Friday afternoon was so much fun! So much to do…crafts, live holiday music, ice skating, and of course, shopping for gifts. Downtown SF is happening! •

Picasso was right when he said “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up”. For Anna’s birthday, she wanted a Sutro Tower painting party to celebrate turning 9. Check out these landscapes made by 8 (and newly 9!) year old San Francisco kids! If kids can do it, adults can too!!!

This is partly why I get up early and go to the beach. I thought it was so cool how the angle of the mountain lines up perfectly with where the water meets the sand, dividing the photo diagonally in half.

ROCK OUT at Union Square! Everyone had so much fun painting rocks from the beach yesterday. From portraits, to landscapes, to animals, fruit and abstracts, creativity was flowing! And Union Square is happening! Every Thursday there’s art, and every day there are all kinds of activities. Come check it out and support !

One of the many reasons I love living in San Francisco: I get to start every day at the beach (can you believe how beautiful?!!), then go to a museum, see music or a play…all in the same day!

So much fun teaching air dry clay tiny bowls at Union Square Park yesterday! It is totally happening down there! Thursday Crafternoons are free to everyone - from 4:30 to 6:30. Such a great mix of locals and people from all over, and all ages. I’ll be back on August 28 teaching painted beach stones…Rock Out!
