ABOUT LAST NIGHT! A super panel «  Creative Industries in the Age of AI »

A huge THANK YOU to our fantastic panelists for joining us at CCSF Photography for an evening of candid conversation, real-world experiences, and thoughtful perspectives on the rapidly changing creative industries!

📸 Sarah Deragon, Sarah Deragon • Photographer founder of Portraits To The People, shared her perspective as a professional photographer and creative entrepreneur, exploring how AI is reshaping photography and why human connection, creative judgment, and personal vision remain so important.

🎬 Eileen Kaur Alden, eileen kaur alden writer and AI creative innovator, introduced us to the wild world of vertical microdramas, AI-generated entertainment, and emerging models of production and distribution. From talent discovery to rage bait and audience engagement, there’s a whole new creative economy taking shape!

+ Theo Fanning, Strange & Co. founder and Executive Creative Director of Strange & CO., brought his 25+ years of experience in advertising, branding, and design to a lively discussion about working with AI. His reminder that AI is technology, not magic, and that it has « no taste and no intention » gave us plenty to think about!

Together, we explored the opportunities, uncertainties, and challenges facing artists and creative professionals as AI continues to transform the industry.

We are thrilled to be partnering with the City of Sacramento Office of Arts and Culture on their upcoming professional development series for artists of all disciplines. If you are an artist and you live within the city of Sacramento, you are eligible to receive a scholarship to attend one of the workshops completely free!

We’ll be starting our workshops on October 27th, with a presentation on Negotiation Skills and Conflict Resolution for Artists of all Disciplines. You’ll learn practical tools to protect professional relationships, strengthen collaborations, and confidently navigate challenging situations. On November 17th we will be presenting a workshop on How to Form and Maintain a Successful Arts Business. This workshop will equip you with the tools to transform your creative practice into a thriving enterprise by combining arts business strategies with essential legal knowledge. Towards the end of the year we will be presenting How to Secure Your Financial Future in 5 Simple Steps.

The scholarship deadline is coming up on Monday, September 21. So head on over to the Office of Arts and Culture website - the link is in our bio - and fill out the scholarship form. In Advanced Lighting Techniques, students explored how light can reveal texture, material, and atmosphere. Using a YETI bottle, real rocks, water, and a projected environmental background, we experimented with directional light, controlled highlights, shadow, and separation—building the image in-camera and asking the bigger question: What does the light need to do?

The Dept is in need of laptop or all in one desktop donations to give to students in need who are working in online and hybrid courses. These laptops should be able to run Lightroom Classic and Photoshop programs. We can provide a letter for tax donations.
