Recognizing we don’t have all the answers is both a scientific approach to things and embodies (don’t know mind). It has been called trite or worse feckless when weighed against current times and events. But I put it to you that recognizing don’t know and seeing things just as they are while suspending judgment is the first step towards wisdom.
Today it seems that discourse is increasingly governed by ideological certainty,and positions are based on perceptions political and religious.not to say things shouldn’t be scrutinized by all available criteria,if one cannot observe and recognize the self inquiry as the first step ,then the process has inevitable gaps in knowledge and also is subject to counter factuals.
This shortsightedness creates openings that are exploited by those who wish to further their own ends whether these are economic,political,or religious,,these false equivalencies do not stand up to rational inquiry if self biases are first identified.There are clear examples of this in the world and yet it seems people’s inaccuracy in assessing reality remains flawed whether by their birth, politics, wealth or position,or their identity affiliation. This is people playing games with the terrible crises that arise in our world,this is remarkably conceited when one can clearly see that certain situations and circumstances have not been solved for decades,with precisely that old approach.
Whether it’s motivated by social justice or intransigence against change,it would seem that few are able to think that they themselves and their own view must be scrutinized scientifically and skepticism of their own faculties must come first in investigating the data concerning the current ills of the world.Sadly, now there appears an inability to question any particular position.
Dialectic is stifled by the concerns of offense,marginalization and victimhood,it has become the paramount form of intractability. I say this to all to remind us that when one puts ideas to this person KJN they will hear (who cares) this does not mean I do not care,rather has one fully integrated self understanding beforehand.If we are going to evolve and not repeat the same historical stories,and have any chance of predicting future alternatives that will improve the world then recognizing our own personal limitations is the only step that can lead to new horizons and a new paradigm in forming a new understanding of the world and its appearance of reality.Wisdom has always been around but it is the last choice of a dualistic world ,Zen is not 2 ,there are no good people or bad people, it’s not easy but clear mind is always possible,as it is already in accordance with truth.
