Art & Spanish projects created by students at Mission Dolores Academy in San Francisco.

Mi ciudad (3,4&5 grades) 06/12/2013

For our last art class, third, fourth and fifth graders built cities using blocks, straws, caps and empty containers. The children were so engrossed in this activity that they seemed to be unaware of my presence documenting their work. What a wonderful group project to end the school year!

"A romper la piñata" (6 & 7 grade) 06/08/2013

Today was sixth and seventh grades final Spanish/Art class of the school year. We couldn’t think of a better way to finish our journey together than to make “piñatas” filled with candy and break them open to celebrate.

Cocodrilos y otras criaturas (6 grade) 06/07/2013

For their final clay modeling project sixth graders were given the choice to create a crocodile following instructions or to develop a creature out of their imaginations. These are just too cute for words!

Tiburones, personajes y objetos (4 grade) 06/07/2013

For their final clay modeling project fourth graders were given the choice to create a shark following instructions or to develop a character or object entirely out of their imaginations.

Esculturas de dinosaurios (5 grade) 06/06/2013

5th grade dinosaur sculptures made out of construction paper

Esculturas de dinosaurios = Dinosaur Sculptures (3 grade) 06/05/2013

Third graders drew dinosaurs and painted them with oil pastels. They created special “legs” out of construction paper to put the sculpture together. Finally, they glued the dinosaurs to recycled lunch trays which they decorated to represent the ground below. Don’t they look just awesome?

Diversión con plastilina = Fun with Playdough (Kindergarten) 06/04/2013

When kindergarteners play with playdough it stimulates their senses, while offering an opportunity to use their imaginations and talk endlessly about their work. Today, in addition to having plenty of playdough, we provided them with a variety of materials —sticks, buttons, straws, yarn and old marker caps— to stimulate their interest, imagination and creativity. Everyone had so much fun!
