Starting Saturday , July 17, We will be offering house tours of the light blue Painted Lady at 712 Steiner. The guide will bring you over exactly at 4PM. The first 22 persons who show up with photo ID, a mask, and $20 cash will be given a 1 hr tour.

Not the city I know. I don't think anyone I grew up with would share this experience. There are a few elements here I recognize. It is the experience of some who live here without a doubt. Has to do with my age? Probably. I don't mean this in any way that sounds native-elitist- but I imagine the author to be mid-20s-mid 30s, a transplant who has lived in the Mission District for 10 years or less, and of course, a is probably a bit edgy - which I am not. For all the headlines about the new San Francisco, there are still plenty of people who live here who have lives that are not "fabulous" or "epic" or "hilarious"... just content. There are still families here- more concerned with schools, church, community and the unique heritage of the city than with whatever new trendy watering hole just opened. All is good. There is room for us all. San Francisco has always been about diversity and waves of newcomers. They say the "Hipsters" have moved to Oakland? ...Replaced by IT millionaires? My point!
