Yvonne Golden was the controversial principal of Opportunity while I was there. She eventually left San Francisco and moved to Florida, where she became the first Black mayor of Daytona Beach. There is now a community center named in honor of Yvonne.

Fong Ha taught math at Opportunity for awhile in the mid-late 70s. He passed away in 2019

So... I was thinking last night about the albums we listened to when we were in school. I was into disco, funk and soul, but most of you who are here right now were always telling me "Disco Sucks!" and nodding your heads to, what... Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, all that music that were golden oldies even then.
