Puddle Jumpers

Located in the vibrant heart of the Mission. Puddle Jumpers Workshop was founded in 2008 by a group of parents from The Little People's Workshop.

Puddle Jumpers Workshop is one of San Francisco's oldest parent-run daycare cooperatives, catering to children ages 18 months to 3 years and inspired by the play-based Reggio Emilia philosophy. At that time, Little People's Workshop was one of San Francisco's oldest parent-run preschool co-operatives, founded in 1975. As a parent-run, parent-staffed, cooperative pre-nursery, Puddle Jumpers Worksho

p helps ease the transition from home to school by providing constant contact with a community of involved families, as well as professional activity leaders. We offer a high quality, yet affordable, daycare experience for our 12-15 member families. Up to eight children attend daily, with at least two parents on duty at all times and a qualified preschool teacher present each morning and afternoon. We go outside twice daily for free play, games, songs, or iced tea parties. All the meals are prepared by member families. We serve a variety of different healthy and exciting options each day, exposing them to new flavours and keeping them well-fuelled for the day's activities. The Co-op model is a brilliant way to transition from having your Little One with you at home full-time into attending school solo.

We get to be a part of their daily lives still, while also encouraging the independence they'll need in a year or two when they go to Kindergarten and Grade 1.

We know how stressful navigating childcare is in times of COVID, but we've found that our little "Pod" of toddlers has been a source of community and stability in these unusual times.

Puddle Jumpers is one of the longest-running parent-run co-operatives in San Francisco, based in the heart of The Mission. We have spots open now and rolling enrollment year-round.

Puddle Jumpers is one of the longest-running parent-run co-operatives in San Francisco, based in the heart of The Mission. We have spots open now and rolling enrollment year-round.

We know how stressful navigating childcare is in times of COVID. But our small size (never more than 8 kids per day) makes us well suited to these troubled times. We emphasize free play, positive learning experiences, unconditional caring, and good nutrition. We have a dynamic professional teacher, and daily activities like reading, puppetry, music, art projects, gardening, cooking and more. We value diversity, open-mindedness, inclusiveness, and creativity. The rates are very affordable, but parents play a big role.

If you have the flexibility to be involved (from half a day per week), the co-op structure gives you a chance to see your kid's day-to-day growth. The co-op is also a wonderful opportunity to make friends with fellow parents, problem-solve collectively and create community – especially rewarding in these times of social distancing.

If you have a toddler around 18 months to 2 years old and are looking to join a small daycare and meet an amazing community of parents, Puddle Jumpers is accepting new families. If you have the flexibility to be able to play a role (from half a day per week), the Co-op structure gives you a chance to get more involved with your kid's day-to-day growth, a community of fellow parents, and also offers much cheaper daycare than the usual.

Our small size (never more than 8 kids in a group) makes us well suited to these troubled times. However we are of course running with a range of enhanced hygiene protocols. One of these is that initial visits are currently via video conference.
