The heart can think of no devotion greater than being shore to ocean- Robert Frost

The yogi who is a householder: ā€˜Grhasth’ stage in life. The stage of literal life giving. The stage of developing deep attachments and giving to the point of often depletion. It’s the offering AND the ask of us in this stage and it’s supposed to be this hard and busy. It is though, ESSENTIAL to complete the full development of a human being.

Muse for Peaceful Mama Retreat 2025 in two weeks. 2026 (next October) Dates are coming soon.

I travelled to Peru in 2011 on a backpackers budget. The land is powerful, the people are kind, the culture is rich, preserved and beautiful to learn about. There is a lot to learn from Peru, the scared valley is an energetic charged place with traditional Andean history and ceremony- it’s palpable. The seed to find a retreat center to return back has been planted for about a decade and now it’s here!

I’ll be co leading this retreat with my dear friend and gifted teacher Jacque Sweet and this is a FAMILY FRIENDLY all inclusive retreat, reach out to me for special fam pricing and room options.

We have 6-8 spaces left!

FYI This is one of the best months to travel to the area.

ā€˜Practice the world we want in the spaces available to us’

We just wrapped up a four week series with about 13 parents and 13 babies aged 2-8 month and my gosh IT WORKED co regulation is so real, a bit magical and such a mental salve.

We played with so many techniques and practices to create a sequence for these new parents this past month. And the babies were SO into it. Jacque and I are doing it again in about a month, now enrollingšŸ’™

It’s nearly impossible to take care of others when you put your needs last, yet this is the call of motherhood in the early years. This retreat is so close to my heart because I believe that we cannot be the kind of mothers we want to be to our children without community and kinship. This time in my own life of raising littles is this relentless combination of both joy and exhaustion. Your heart truly lives in another! Motherhood/parenthood is this Meta/Maha expression of service and devotion which are two of the most transformative practices on the path of karma yoga and I am so excited to gather in the desert this fall to explore these themes. Mostly I am looking forward this long weekend to cultivate more community and nourish myself alongside others on the same path.

Very limited space. Link in bio.

If this is not for you, maybe someone you know needs to join? Please share🪷

I’m starting to gear up for a training that has been years in the making. It’s for yoga teachers out there who are interested in functional anatomy and deepening the skill of cueing asana through a lens of functional joint movement and muscle action.

(For those who have taken my anatomy trainings in Seattle and SF, this is different, new content:)

Full description:

Join Claire Zurbrugg (E-RYT500, YACEP, LMT) for a dive into yoga asana illuminated through study and embodiment of functional anatomy. This immersion is intended for dedicated yoga practitioners, yoga instructors seeking general YA continuing Ed hours, and those enrolled in the BYC Advanced Studies Program.

Through the study and practice of yoga, we often gain a general understanding of the foundations of any given pose. These foundations might include a visual or sensory understanding of where to place limbs, the multiple variations of a pose, ways of moving into and out of a shape, and an understanding of the benefits or function of a posture. Underneath the foundational understanding of what a pose might look like are the actions of the pose. In this immersion, we move deeper, seeking to unearth a greater, holistic understanding of the functional anatomy and forces at play behind familiar shapes.

Understanding and embodiment of functional anatomy on the mat can both enrich our personal asana practice and serve the students we might teach. Approaching functional anatomy through this lens offers a deeper understanding of the complex and incredible ways our bodies function to produce movement.

Fri/sat/sun
In person training //
Zoom integration will be available on request

20 CEs (This is a required module for BYC Advanced Studies Students)

A little glimpse of some inversion workshop playtime last week! Breakthroughs are really all about learning about technique and then practicing said technique over and over. The details matter and we don't get this type of education normally in a public class. Workshops and immersions are the best for the breakthroughs- I'm hosting a weekend inversion immersion march 17-18 in Seattle for this exact stuff- go upside down and learn how to safely.
