LLA is thrilled to welcome our new neighbor and partner Bay FC to Treasure Island!

As part of the groundbreaking ceremony for its new state-of-the-art sports performance center, Bay FC recognized and reaffirmed its commitment to Life Learning Academy by announcing plans to expand internship opportunities for LLA students across Bay FC’s operations, and a desire to build a health and wellness platform for our school.

We are grateful to Bay FC, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, and District 6 Supervisor Matt Dorsey for their championship of our mission to empower underserved youth.

A big thank you to City Administrator Carmen Chu who also expressed her support: “I am especially excited for the partnership between Bay FC and Life Learning Academy which will create opportunities for youth to further their professional development in the global sports arena.”

Co-Executive Director, Craig Miller, was recently invited as a guest speaker College of Education Studies’ Fireside Chat series. During the presentation, LLA was featured as a case study of equity in public education. The Wesleyan students learned how LLA utilized the charter school structure to create a comprehensive educational model supporting the academic, housing, workforce and social-emotional needs of its students and alumni.

From the classroom to the kitchen, this week’s featured dish includes blacked chicken, creamy polenta and roasted brussels sprouts.

This week, seven LLA students attended the annual Teens Tackle To***co and Other Drugs Leadership Conference where they participated in health and wellness workshops and networked with other Bay Area student leaders.

Every day our culinary students serve their peers and LLA staff a morning snack. This week we had homemade bagels, fresh fruit, and a snack bar.

Breakfast/ a morning snack gives you an energy boost and stimulates your brain helping with focusing and processing information.
