Currently on view: Outside The Frameline: Behind the Scenes with San Francisco Chronicle photographer Santiago Mejia, a former CCSF journalism student, the editor in chief and photo editor of CCSF’s The Guardsman newspaper, is on view at City College’s Front Page Gallery in the Journalism Department. Check out photos from the opening reception here.
The exhibit showcases the work of a daily photojournalist, where they have to be ready at a moment’s notice for breaking news, features, portraits and sports. A photographic collection in this exhibit will include breaking news from the Sonoma County floods to wildfires, as well as memorable sports moments like the Warriors’ championship runs and sports figures using their platform for activism.
This exhibit is presented by CCSF Journalism Department and Front Page Gallery

At tonight’s Board of Trustees meeting, we were proud to celebrate Juan Gonzales, CCSF Journalism Chair and recipient of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Distinguished Teaching in Journalism Award!
For over 40 years, Juan has inspired generations of journalists through his leadership at CCSF, including mentorship of The Guardsman, CCSF’s student-led newspaper, and the founding of the bilingual community newspaper El Tecolote. His dedication to storytelling and journalism education is reflected in the many CCSF Journalism graduates who have gone on to work in local media.
