Children's Council

Children's Council We believe in a San Francisco where every child is able to reach their full potential and thrive.

We help families find child care that meets their needs, as well as financial assistance to pay for it. We also offer child development workshops and resources for families and early educators, including licensed and license-exempt child care providers, nannies and anyone who cares for children.

Join us for our Family Child Care Fundamentals Series, a free 8-session virtual series designed to help you build and strengthen the foundation of your child care business.

Topics include:
-Designing your unique program
-Activities and curriculum
-Creating your child care environment
-Marketing your business
-Contracts and policies
-Communicating with families
-Business finances
-Preparing for business taxes

The virtual series runs on Thursdays at 6pm starting September 17 – November 5, 2026

No parent should have to worry about losing income or their job when caring for a newborn.

Children’s Council of San Francisco is proud to have supported today’s expansion of San Francisco’s Paid Parental Leave Ordinance, signed into law today by Daniel Lurie at Joe Di Maggio Playground in North Beach. This expansion is part of Supervisor Danny Sauter's broader Supporting Tomorrow’s Residents with Opportunity, Livability, Learning, Education and Resources Act (STROLLER Act). Thanks to this legislation, families are now eligible for paid parental leave after 90 days, rather than 180–extending paid leave access to more working families sooner.

Thank you to Supervisor Danny Sauter and the co-sponsors of the legislation: Board President Rafael Mandelman, Supervisors Myrna Melgar, Shamann Walton, Stephen Sherrill, Chyanne Chen and Bilal Mahmood for their partnership in building a more family-friendly San Francisco.

Join the SF Pregnancy Family Village every 2nd Saturday at the Bayview YMCA on Saturday, August 8 from 12-3pm for a free event celebrating birth, families and community.

The event includes live music, art, yoga, massages, haircuts and a free lunch from 12-1pm. Families will also have access to clinical care, maternity clothes, a labor & birth circle, Fatherhood Lounge and post-partum support.💙

Families who are pregnant or postpartum can also receive a free Lyft ride if they live in the city of San Francisco. Please email [email protected] for details.
