Hi Sharks 🦈! Good morning. We need your help as there may be upcoming changes to your UC SHIP plan. Please come to our town hall tomorrow, on February 25th, during lunch in RM 333-101 to let us know your experience with student health services. If you cannot attend please consider filling out the survey. Wishing you all the best.

As you prepare for the upcoming school year, we encourage you to take a moment to review your health insurance options. All UC students are automatically enrolled in the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP).

However, you may have other coverage, through a parent, guardian, employer, or government plan, that better suits your needs.

You may be eligible for Medi-Cal, especially if you qualify for other government assistance programs. Check your eligibility and apply online through Benefits Cal.

Apply to Medi-Cal as soon as possible, as the processing time may overlap with the UC SHIP deadline.

If you already have qualifying insurance and decide not to use UC SHIP, you must submit a waiver application by August 20, 2025, to avoid being automatically charged for the plan.

Please take a look at both plans thoroughly, as well as the attached document, which provides additional information on Medi-Cal.
