Faithful Fools "On the Streets We Discover Our Common Humanity." https://linktr.ee/faithfulfools

Faithful Fools was founded in 1998 as an educational and charitable 501(c)3 organization when the lives of Kay Jorgensen and Carmen Barsody converged in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. Kay, a Unitarian Universalist minister, had been a presence of compassion on the streets of the Tenderloin for three years. Carmen, a part of the Franciscan Community of Little Falls, MN, had just arrived in the Bay area after seven years working in the barrios of Managua, Nicaragua. Faithful Fools learn and educate through engaging in relationships with people who are impoverished and without housing, as well as those with homes and economic wealth. Together we address the policies, attitudes and lack of knowledge that perpetuate injustice and poverty not just locally in San Francisco, but nationally and globally. Walking and working together people of privilege and people who are impoverished help one another bridge gaps and shift perceptions that inhibit personal and social change. We work to build community by breaking through boundaries that separate us, such as economic power, religious beliefs, class, race, gender, ethnicity, and together we discover what connects us.

Hot off the digital-press! We share our new e-news that is filled with lots of life, opportunities to create, volunteer, hear a Fool speak on Francis of Assisi and also stand with our neighbors. Oh such a full and grand life we live. https://icont.ac/51mTb

We had such a grand time in this cross-cultural exchange with Santa Clara University students, the Beyond Tomorrow students from Japan, Tenderloin neighbors, and Fools in the court. We had a beautiful dialogue about the social issues impacting the people & places we are from, and noting the differences in how policies, governments, and programs respond to those social issues.

Our world isn’t perfect but there’s a lot of hope when a few good fools come together to discover our common humanity. Beyond language barriers, beyond borders, beyond cultural differences. We are one!

We had a Fools team day outing today at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens! 🌸🌻 we played, blew bubbles, and had a delicious picnic from a couple of our favorite Tenderloin eateries (Jane the Bakery & SF Organica). Some of us took the opportunity to rest & read a good book on the ground and others walked around the park and had a photoshoot with nature! What a fun folly of fools!! 🤡💜

On Day 2 of the SI immersion we began our day with a heart-opening service in the morning with Glide Memorial Community and then joined the TL neighbors and organizations for Sunday Streets. Lots of music, games and art, including a little tattooing for some temporary joy...And now while some prepare a pasta supper others take a little time to journal.
