To our Urban Ed Family and Community,
It is with immense sadness that we share the closure of Urban Ed Academy as of July 1, 2025.
This is a challenging moment for our community, and I know many of you are experiencing a range of emotions, including disappointment, frustration, and sadness. I share those feelings deeply. This organization has been a labor of love for all of us, and together, we’ve accomplished so much for educators and students across San Francisco and the Bay Area.
We are proud of what we’ve built. We recruited, placed, and supported 45 Black educators in classrooms, positively impacting thousands of students and helping to transform the educational landscape in San Francisco, Oakland, and the Bay Area. While our chapter is closing, the need for this work remains, and we are committed to celebrating our legacy and connecting our community to organizations that will continue the mission. Take a look at our full impact report here to learn more (link in bio).

“My journey to the education profession started in late 2022, straight out of college. I never thought about myself being in the education field, but I knew the importance of education and being a community-based person, I knew that my next adventure would be helping my community. When Urban Ed’s Fellowship opportunity came along, I put it together; becoming a teacher is how I contribute to furthering the improvement of my community.”
