Apply to the WritersCorps Teaching Artist in Residence (WCTAIR) grant by November 16, 2016. This three year $40,000 grant, renewed annually, provides support to individual teaching artists to offer free long-term, in-depth literacy-focused arts workshops to youth at San Francisco schools or community-based organizations. During the 2015-2016 academic year, students from Hilltop Special Services Center participated in a collaborative poetry/theater workshop led by teaching artists Annie Rovzar of WritersCorps and Tristan Cunningham of A.C.T.. Students explored the issues and stigmas facing teen moms. Our friends at Youth Speaks will be hosting the Grand Slam Finals from 11am-1pm at Laney College. Participating schools: O'Connell HS, Oakland School for the Arts, Los Altos HS, Irvington HS, Oceana HS, and MetWest HS! There will also be sacrificial and featured poets you don't want to miss.
