Huge cheers for our very own kindergarten teacher, Ani, who officially walked the stage! πŸŽ“βœ¨

Ani earned her Master of Arts in Education and her California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. It was a true AVS family affairβ€”her co-teacher Chloe, Assistant Head of Lower School and mentor Sarah, and even a few of her students were there to cheer her on!

We are so proud of your dedication to your craft and our students, Ani. The future of our classrooms is bright with you in it! 🍎🌟

🎨 What a Friday! This morning our JK–1 students wowed us at their art expo, showcasing beautiful handmade creations under the guidance of the amazing Ms. Atreyee. So much talent in our little ones! πŸ–ŒοΈ

Earlier this week, Middle School teachers Aaron and Jeremiah kicked off Monday Morning Meeting with a jaw-dropping air pressure demo β€” fire, a expanding marshmallow in a vacuum, and a bottle that crunched in on itself. Our Lower Schoolers were absolutely amazed! πŸ”₯πŸ”¬

Art + science = one incredible week. πŸ’›

This morning, we had the incredible honor of welcoming our founding Head of School, Ed Walters, back to campus as part of our 15th anniversary celebration πŸŽ‰

Ed led a hands-on science experiment with our students, filling the room with curiosity, laughter, and a sense of discovery. Watching him engage so naturally with our learners was a powerful reminder of the spirit he helped build at AVSβ€”one rooted in exploration, creativity, and meaningful connections.

The celebration continued throughout the day as our students fully embraced the joy of our 15th birthday! From designing their own buttons, to enjoying delicious snacks, to building creative towers, the campus was buzzing with energy, imagination, and fun. We even came together as an entire school to create a giant human β€œAVS”—a moment of unity and pride we won’t forget.

We’re excited to keep the celebration going tonight at our Alumni Event! Join us from 6:30–8:30 PM at the AVS Lower School campus to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate 15 years of AVS together. We can’t wait to see our alumni community there!

We're BACK and ready for more! 🌸 Before we headed off for spring break, we had the most incredible Book Week! Students and teachers alike brought their favorite characters to life in the most creative costumes πŸ“šβœ¨, and we were so lucky to welcome guest authors Monica Wesolowska and Penny Warner, who inspired our readers and writers in the most meaningful ways. πŸ–ŠοΈ

Our community also came together for a Bookmark Design Contest, a Book Swap, and a Community Drive β€” because great stories are meant to be shared! πŸ“–πŸ’› And our middle schoolers wrapped up an impressive deep dive into skeletal and anatomical studies. πŸ¦΄πŸ”¬

Rested, recharged, and ready to finish the year strong β€” let's do this! πŸ’ͺ

🌈 Our AVS students celebrated Holi this past Friday and it was absolutely beautiful! πŸ™Œβœ¨

Holi, known as the Festival of Colors, is one of the most joyful and beloved celebrations in Hindu culture. It marks the arrival of spring and the coming together of community with love and laughter. πŸŒΈβ˜€οΈ

People come together to throw vibrant colored powders, dance, sing, and spread joy, and that’s exactly the energy our AVS students brought to the celebration! πŸ’›πŸ’œβ€οΈπŸ’š

What makes Holi so special is its message of unity. No matter who you are or where you come from, everyone is welcome to join in the color and the joy. It’s a reminder that life is meant to be lived boldly and colorfully! πŸŽ‰

We love that our AVS community gets to learn from and celebrate the rich traditions that our students and families bring to our school. Every culture represented here makes us stronger, brighter, and more beautiful together. πŸ’›

Happy Holi to all who celebrate! 🌺

πŸŽ¨πŸ”¬ Last Friday was a big one for our littles! Our JK students were soaking up some serious culture over at SF MOMA, taking in world-class art like they owned the place. Meanwhile, First Graders made their way to Mission Science Workshop in SF for a morning full of hands-on experiments and chaos in the best way possible. Honestly? We love a Friday where our students are out exploring the city. San Francisco is our classroom too. 🌁

πŸ”‹βš‘ What happens when you give a group of brilliant future AVS students cardboard, batteries, wire, motors, cups, popsicle sticks, and tape? Pure magic. This past Sunday, our incoming class got their first taste of the AVS experience at our admitted students event, and they did NOT disappoint. Our incredible 5th graders stepped up as buddies, guiding and cheering on the newest members of our community every step of the way. From spinning propellers to buzzing, humming creations, every single build was unique, creative, and full of personality. Watching these kids problem-solve, collaborate, and light up when their projects came to life was a reminder of exactly why we do what we do. The energy in the room was electric (literally). Welcome to our newest AVS Middle School families. We can't wait to see what you build next. πŸŽ‰

When you go on a mini-adventure and end up riding home on an AVS bus ad! Talk about full circle! 🚌✨

Our curious learners had the best surprise on Mini-Adventure Day, spotting their own school's question out in the wild: "How do you turn falling DOMINOES into LIGHT?" πŸ’‘

We think they might just know the answer. πŸ˜„

From the classroom to the field, our learners have been busy doing amazing things! 🌟 Whether we're exploring the world around us on field trips, making discoveries through hands-on science experiments, celebrating big and small learning milestones, or diving deep into lessons together, every moment is an opportunity to grow. We are so proud of these curious, creative, and hardworking students. Here's to learning that goes beyond the textbook! πŸ“šπŸ”¬πŸŽ‰
