June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. 💜
Elder abuse can be hidden in plain sight, but awareness helps us recognize the signs, protect dignity, and advocate for older adults in our communities.
At the University of San Francisco School of Nursing and Health Professions, we recognize the role caregivers, healthcare workers, and future CNAs play in creating safer, more compassionate care environments. Through education and awareness, we can help protect older adults with respect, dignity, and advocacy.
Learn the signs. Speak up. Care with dignity. 💚💛

Closing Nurses Week by Honoring Lynda Boyer-Chu 💚💛
As we conclude National Nurses Week 2026, we are proud to recognize Lynda Boyer-Chu, recipient of the 2025–2026 Adjunct Faculty Award.
Through her leadership in Community Health, Lynda has created meaningful learning experiences that bring nursing students beyond the classroom and into the heart of the community. At The Healing WELL SF she led students in providing a student-run clinic experience for members of the Tenderloin community, offering services such as blood pressure screenings, blood glucose checks, wound care support, health referrals, and therapeutic hand and foot massages.
Her teaching reminds students that community health is rooted in relationship, humility, trauma-informed care, advocacy, and justice. Through community exploration across the Tenderloin, SOMA, and the Excelsior, Lynda helped students better understand the structural conditions that shape health while learning directly from the communities they serve.
Her work reflects the heart of Living the Mission and the power of Jesuit education: learning with and from communities, honoring lived experience, and preparing future nurses to serve with compassion, cultural humility, and a commitment to health equity.
As we celebrate Nurses Week, we honor Lynda’s dedication to shaping nurses who are prepared to heal, lead, and transform health care for a more just world.
Congratulations, Lynda Boyer-Chu! 🩺✨

Celebrating Nurses Week 2026: DNP Graduate Spotlight 🎓
Today, we recognize Michelle Concepcion, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner DNP graduate whose nursing journey reflects resilience, purpose, and transformation. ✨
From building a career that created stability for her family to pursuing her DNP at USF, Michelle’s story reminds us that nursing is more than a profession. It is a calling rooted in compassion, growth, and service.
For her culminating DNP project, “Leading the School Team: A Professional Development Training on Eating Disorders for School Nurses,” Michelle developed training to support more than 100 school nurses across 17 districts in recognizing and responding to adolescents struggling with eating disorders.
Her dedication to mental health care, lifelong learning, and professional excellence earned her the Dean’s Medal for Promoting Professionalism. 🩺
As Michelle shared:
“Being a nurse isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am.”
During Nurses Week, we celebrate nurses like Michelle who heal, lead, and transform health care for our communities. 💚

Empowering the Voice of Health Care this Nurses Week 🩺💡
As we continue celebrating National Nurses Week 2026, we honor this year’s theme: The Power of Nurses™.
That power is not only found at the bedside. It is also found in the halls of government, in community spaces, and in the rooms where health care decisions are made.
By fostering participation in the Policy Summit and additional advocacy experiences, we empower nurses as science-informed advocates who strengthen health care systems and ensure those closest to patient care are involved in shaping policy.
Nurses bring clinical expertise, compassion, and public health insight to the conversations that impact our communities. Through advocacy, leadership, and service, they continue to build a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
Join us in honoring the nurses who use their voices to lead change, advance justice, and transform health care. 💚💛
