Take a look at this cool design project from Studio Brightworks, our High School, this year!

Obsidian Band engaged in a project that invited them to connected math, art & science while making individually designed, parametric, slip cast vases! Our students created one of human kinds earliest inventions, ceramic vessels, using one of our newest inventions, the Grasshopper parametric design tool for the Rhino CAD system.

As a school we pride ourselves in challenging our students to work with their hands & to make unique creations, while also encouraging them to engage with modern industry appropriate tools and techniques!

Enjoy the richness and depth of this particular journey and imagine just how many connections, expansions & overall understanding a project like this invites!

Our High School students went on a school trip to Japan!

And they did it in typical Brightworks fashion: The idea for the trip was born inside their classroom and our students advocated, planned and fundraised for it all! When it was time to take off, they were all ready to move!

They researched and planned itineraries for individual days each, which resulted in incredibly rich and varying activities! This trip had it all! In addition to awarding them with some incredible new knowledge and experiences, perhaps the most notable outcome was the camaraderie, respect & friendships they developed along the way! They came back a much stronger group together!

We love to see how this kind of student agency results in so many positive outcomes! They all truly owned their initiative and pitched in to make it the best experience for everyone!

Studio Brightworks is on a mission to reimagine the high school experience! This trip did just do that! Enjoy!

Our students and parents agree - Art is the most loved activity at school! So why not take this opportunity to celebrate our very own art collaborator extraordinaire, !
Rob is in the unique position that he works across every band and knows all our students very well! He is admired for his positivity and reminds us almost daily how lucky he is to be able to help kids hold on to and develop their love for the arts! We know, both from observations and from feedback, that his contributions are deeply held within our community!

At Brightworks we are blessed with a wonderful group of staff and collaborators who are always dedicated to our brilliant students and our unique school! Let's use this Teacher Appreciation Week to highlight all the wonderful contributions by Rob and his colleagues! A big and heartfelt Thank You to you all!

Let's celebrate Club Mud, our very own ceramics studio!
Run by parent experts and engaging all of our community groups, we love this initiative truly showcasing the Brightworks spirit!
In the studio you will find students, staff and parents working side by side! Club Mud is open during Community Fridays, we offer our upper school students special training during studio time and lately we have also seen advanced work for special group projects! All of this to give our students more tools in expressing their learning in creative and authentic ways! Lets celebrate the lovely mess, the dirty hands and the community spirit on full display!

Our 10th Annual Maker Marketplace was a huge success!

Not only did students make their products, market them and sell their goods, they also learned the craft of connecting with customers, tracking their sales and giving a percentage to charity.

They raised $853 for the Sf Marin Food Bank.
