The struggle is real - so is the solution.
Burnout is driving Jewish early childhood educators out of the field
During Mental Health Awareness Month, the Jewish communal world rightly turns attention to the well-being of our leaders: rabbis, cantors and nonprofit professionals. These conversations matter. But there is a group we keep leaving out, and the consequences of that omission are catching up to us. Ea...

Epic staff week! We planned for the following program year, learned with Keshet, shared Torah, got a surprise visit from Temple Sinai’s preschoolers searching for Mount Sinai, and of course, we closed our week at Fentons with ice cream 🍦❤️🍨. Chag Shavuot Sameach!

Almost 20 years ago, when I was working for the Union for Reform Judaism, I was lucky enough to meet a new rabbi, charged with engaging teens at one of our local congregations. All these years later, she is still there, doing this critically important work, and today I got to be present as Jewish LearningWorks gave her our Ruby Award for excellence in teen engagement. The student is now the teacher! Thank you Alissa Forrest Miller for being a bright light in the Bay Area Jewish community.

February is Jewish Disability, Accessibility and Inclusion Month (JDAIM). To support this critical effort in our Jewish educational spaces, we are offering five Bay Area Early Childhood Education programs a fully funded annual membership to Sequential Development Consulting for the 2026-27 school year.
Sequential Development Consulting is a firm dedicated to speech and language development, sensory and motor development, and social-emotional development. "Before you, mount and hill shall shout aloud,
and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12
Every year, we recite this verse during Tu B'Shevat. But this year, it feels particularly resonant as this is our first Tu B'Shevat since the last Oct. 7 hostage was returned home. And while the journey to this day has been filled with thorns, today, we rejoice in the promise of rebirth, resilience and new growth too.
You, you, me, each of us - we are the roots of our community. And together, through love and learning, we plant the world.
Chag Sameach!
