A muscle test is not just testing a muscle.

It’s testing how the brain and nervous system are coordinating that muscle under specific conditions.

That’s why responses can change instantly with different inputs, positions, or stabilization demands.

The deeper you understand muscle testing, the more clearly you can see the patterns underneath dysfunction.

The biggest shift isn’t just what you learn.
It’s how differently you start seeing people, pain, and movement.

Watching students connect the dots in real time is powerful.

This is where confidence, clarity, and purpose start to grow.

Weakness isn’t always caused by a lack of strength. 👀

Sometimes the body is neurologically inhibiting a muscle because of hidden dysfunctions elsewhere in the system.

Until the real cause is addressed, strengthening alone may not solve the problem.

If movement fixes one type of pain but aggravates another, there’s usually a deeper reason behind it.

The body adapts, compensates, and protects based on underlying dysfunctions many people never assess properly.

Weak on both sides? It’s probably not a strength problem.

Most people assume bilateral weakness means they need more exercise, more rehab, or more effort.

But often, the real cause is sensory dysfunction.

When faulty input from mechanoreceptors, joint receptors, or reflex pathways distorts how the brain maps the body, the nervous system reduces motor output on both sides as protection.

Your muscles aren’t weak because they “forgot.”
Your brain is limiting force because it doesn’t trust the signal.

That’s why strengthening alone often fails.

Fix the sensory input → restore accurate motor output → strength returns naturally.

Stop training around the weakness.
Start fixing what’s creating it.

Restricted spinal motion isn’t always just a “joint problem.” 👀

What feels like locked vertebrae can often be driven by neurological dysfunctions causing the rotatores muscles to become overactive and restrict movement.

Using P-DTR, we assessed the underlying issue and helped improve thoracic rotation significantly in this patient.
