Here is the new logo for KZVtv designed by 8th grader Sareen Andonian! KZVtv is written, edited, recorded, and produced by our school’s 8th Grade English class. Research shows that incorporating media literacy education into English Language Arts (ELA) practices strengthens student ability to analyze, create, and use non-print texts. https://youtu.be/3fYppUUHRGU

Introducing Armath!

The Armath engineering program was introduced at KZV Armenian School in 2023 in order to foster and develop students’ creative energies in STEM. In the program, led by Baron Nshan, the students learn basic coding, robotics, computing, and media creation. Last year, four students had projects accepted for the finals of the Digicode 2024 international coding competition, and presented their work in front of thousands of students and educators worldwide!

The 4th graders visited Guide Dogs for the Blind. It gave them valuable insight into how service animals help people with visual impairments navigate the world more independently. Seeing puppies in training was especially exciting!

KZV designs engaging yet rigorous learning experiences! Digin Sevana’s 8th grade English class did a comprehensive study of William Saroyan’s “My Name is Aram” through rhetorical analysis and essays. The students extended their knowledge of the text by creating board games that tested their peers on not only the text, but Saroyan’s biography and other writings. Research shows that ~Students should have opportunities to see themselves represented in literature.~ Identifying with texts helps students cultivate their sense of self, understand their place in the world, and become more invested in reading.

Helping hands! Our middle school students spent their recess time helping out with Raffi’s Garden. There is much progress happening, and we can’t wait to see the final result! If you ever want to volunteer, please let us know! 🪴

The 3rd Graders had the best time at the Academy of Sciences! Students were able to apply their knowledge of the biomes while visiting the rainforest exhibit and aquarium. They also learned about the cosmos in the planetarium! We love science! 🌿🐊🔭
