Another amazing year with FCCHEN 💛

FACES’ Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN) is a community of nearly 40 licensed home-based childcare providers serving over 200 families across San Francisco each year. We are proud to foster strong partnerships between FCCHEN providers and FACES staff — in last year’s survey, 94% of providers reported a trusting relationship with our team.

Last weekend, staff and families gathered at Bayview to celebrate another wonderful year of learning, care, and community — and to cheer on our little ones as they head off to kindergarten! 🎓✨

🍎 Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! 🍎

We are so deeply grateful for the extraordinary FACES teachers across our three centers, and our FCCHEN network of nearly 40 home-based providers. Every single day, these incredible educators show up with love, patience, and dedication to make sure each child feels seen, cared for, and celebrated for exactly who they are. 💛

In last year's parent survey, 99% of families said their child was happy and safe at FACES. That number doesn't happen by accident — it's a reflection of the heart and hard work that every one of our teachers pours into this work, every single day. 🌟

To our amazing team: thank you, thank you, thank you. You make everything possible. We are so lucky to have you. 🙏✨

Earlier this week, we were honored to welcome the PNC team for a ribbon-cutting celebration of our brand-new nature yard — made possible through PNC's incredible generosity. Through their initiative, PNC has long been committed to helping children ages 0–5 thrive, and this nature yard is a beautiful reflection of that mission in action.

Our kiddos are already loving it! 🌱 This space was brought to life in partnership with , , and the Low-Income Investment Fund (LIIF) — and we are so grateful to everyone who helped plant these seeds for a lifetime of learning and growth.

We had an amazing time at the recent USF vs. Gonzaga game at the Chase Center! 🏀✨ A huge thank you to Golden State Warriors for the fantastic seats — we’re so grateful for the opportunity to be there. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on a big win over the Dons! 👏 And most of all, thank you to our incredible community partners who make experiences like this possible for our team. As Black History Month comes to a close, FACES is celebrating with joy, movement, and deep appreciation for those who paved the way. ✨🖤

This week, our Bayview site hosted a beautiful Black History Month celebration featuring engaging readings and vibrant dance performances.

The event marked the culmination of a month filled with meaningful learning and creativity, including:
📚 Learning about Black leaders such as Barack Obama, Ida B. Wells, Benjamin Elijah Mays, and Booker T. Washington
🎨 Exploring the cultures of African countries — especially Ethiopia — through art
🎶 Listening and moving to music by Black artists, from African traditions to jazz to hip-hop
🖌️ Creating art inspired by renowned Black artists

We are proud to honor Black history, culture, and excellence — this month and all year long. Happy Black History Month to all! ✊🏾💛

This weekend, the FACES team was proud to be out in the community at the Summer Resource Fair! ☀️🎉

San Francisco’s annual fair connects families with enriching summer programs for children and youth in grades K–8 — and we were thrilled to share more about FACES’ Bayview After-School and Summer Enrichment Program (BASECamp). 🚀📚 Our program is packed with hands-on STEM activities, educational field trips, and plenty of outdoor exploration to keep kids curious, active, and inspired all summer long. 🌿🔬

FACES joined more than 100 incredible organizations working together to help families plan the best possible summer for their children. 💛

A big thank you to San Francisco Department of Children, Youth & Their Families, San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, and the San Francisco Public Library for hosting such a wonderful event — and to all the partners offering amazing opportunities for San Francisco’s kids! 🙌✨

This morning, our Haight Ashbury Center was delighted to welcome Lion Dancers in celebration of Lunar New Year! 🧧🦁✨ The Lion Dance is a vibrant tradition believed to drive away negative energy and usher in good fortune and prosperity for the year ahead.

Our staff and children were absolutely thrilled — they loved the lively performance and the special chance to meet the Lion Dancers up close! 💛🥁

Happy Lunar New Year! 🧧✨ Today marks the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse — a time associated with bold ideas, vibrant energy, and swift forward motion. 🔥🐎

Here at FACES, we’re already feeling that momentum. We’ve officially broken ground on our Masonic renovation, and by mid-May we anticipate welcoming our preschoolers into beautiful new classrooms! 🏗️📚

Even more change is on the horizon for San Francisco families. Mayor Daniel Lurie’s Family Opportunity Agenda will invest the $550 million in Proposition C (“Baby Prop C”) reserves to expand access to free child care across the city. Under this plan:

Families of four earning up to $230,000/year will qualify for free care

Families earning up to $310,000/year will be eligible for a 50% subsidy

This is a powerful step forward — one that will help more families access the kind of high-quality, evidence-based care that FACES is proud to provide. 💛
