First Saturday Balboa, S**g, and Fast Lindy swing dancing in Potrero Hill. Come join us every first Saturday in Potrero Hill.

Bal Haus is a community-organized, not-for-profit dance group run by dancers for dancers. No partner needed, beginners welcome!

8:00pm - 12:00am

$10 entrance fee

We offer a one-on-one mini crash course at 8:00pm. $7 gets you a 20-minute private session with a top-notch Balboa instructor. You can work on any topic from fundamentals to styling.

The musicians brought the music. You brought the magic. ✨

We took so many photos at our August Live Band Night that we had to share a few more! This time, the spotlight is on the people who filled the dance floor and made the night so much fun.

So many great dances, big smiles, close calls, happy spins, and moments of pure musical joy. ❤️

One of our favorite things about Bal Haus is seeing how everyone brings their own personality and style to the dance floor. You each bring something special to our community, and you mean so much to us.

Here are some photos that captured a little bit of what the night felt like. Looking back at our August Live Band Night and thinking… yep, that was a REALLY good one! ❤️

The Nathan Tokunaga Quartet brought an incredible night of live swing to Bal Haus, with Nathan Tokunaga, Adam Kubota, Nirav Sanghani, and Nathan Joseph keeping the dance floor moving all night. There was so much energy in the room, and the music was simply a joy to dance to.

A big thank-you to these four fantastic musicians for sharing their talent with us, and to Paul Riding for keeping the music going between sets.

And to everyone who came out to dance, cheer, listen, and fill the room with good energy — thank you. A live band is only half of the equation. It’s the dancers and the people in the room that turn it into a Bal Haus night. ✨

Bal Haus Live Band Night is just a few days away, and Gruya, Grogu's second cousin once removed, has recruited an all-star team of instructors for this Saturday's Mini Private Lessons!

Whether you're taking your first steps into the Balboa or Collegiate S**g galaxy, or you've been cruising through the swing universe for years and just want to hone your skills, we've got you covered.

📍 Sign-ups open at 7:50 PM (at the door)
🕗 Mini privates begin at 7:55 PM (20 minutes each)
💵 $7 add-on ($5 for students)
🔒 18 Balboa spots + 3 S**g spots (first come, first served)

July Bal Haus was one big celebration! 🎉

We had a geeky and successful workshop during the day, and were thrilled to have so many out-of-town dancers joining us in the evening dance pary. The long holiday weekend was magical. 🪄🎩

Here are some of our favorite moments from the evening dance party. Looking through these photos and seeing so many smiling faces fills us with so much joy. Thank you to everyone who joined us—whether you danced all night, caught up with old friends, met someone new, volunteered, or simply helped create the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes Bal Haus so special.

The Mankes never disappoint! 🥰Their workshop completely satisfied our thirst for diving into all the geeky details of the essence of Pure Bal. Every tiny adjustment we learned had a huge impact on how our bodies moved and how dancing Pure Bal felt. It's amazing how such subtle changes can make such a big difference. We only wish the workshop had been longer than two days! Thank you, Susan and Corey, for sharing your knowledge, passion, and generosity with our community. We can't wait to invite you back to SF! 🌉

Guess who’s behind the decks at Bal Haus this month? ✨🎶

We’re so excited to introduce our July DJ lineup!

🔥 Coming in hot all the way from Nashville—and fresh off teaching our weekend workshops—we're thrilled to welcome Corey to the DJ booth! 📀

Holding it down on the home front are two Bal Haus favorites: Max and Ian. ❤️

Expect incredible music, great vibes, and a dance floor full of happy feet all night long. We'll also have a jam at 10:00 PM to give our out-of-town guests a proper Bal Haus welcome!

All dance event photographers have one of the toughest jobs in the room. They work in low light, trying to capture fast-moving dancers who rarely stop for a moment.

Of course, this includes our very own in-house photographer, Jeremy Cooper. Since 2017, Jeremy has generously donated countless hours behind the camera, documenting our community and preserving so many memories, all as a labor of love.

After each event, we spend hours sorting through hundreds of photos, looking for the ones that best capture the feelings of the night—the joy, the laughter, the connections, and yes, sometimes the goofiness too.

It's a lot of work, but always worth it. Every photo brings us back to those moments on the dance floor and reminds us why we love this community so much.

A simple "thank you" hardly feels adequate for the dedication, time, and care Jeremy has poured into Bal Haus over the years. The next time you see him at Bal Haus (or any dance event), please take a moment to thank him.

We hope these photos bring back wonderful memories for you and that you enjoy looking through them as much as we enjoyed putting them together. ❤️

One of the things Bal Haus loves most is being part of people's special moments.

We were honored that Amy and Ian chose to spend part of their wedding celebration with the swing dance community. There's something incredibly meaningful about sharing a dance floor with friends during such an important milestone.

Amy and Ian, thank you for sharing your special day with us. We love you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness, laughter, and dancing together.
