« A photographic portrait is a picture of someone who knows he’s being photographed, and what he does with this knowledge is as much a part of the photograph as what he’s wearing or how he looks. »
- Richard Avedon
While in photo school I met Avedon a few times - always enthusiastic and generous! It was great to revisit this project in a smaller scale well suited to this space and intended to show almost the entire project as he intended. Check out the ephemera and work prints! Avedon had a reputation for being a very demanding art director of his darkroom printers!
