From conference presentation to publication—Kyley is making waves!
We’re thrilled to celebrate our BAIS Peer Advisor, whose research “Wine-rs or Losers: Assessing the Socio-Economic Impact of EU Regulations on Climate-Exacerbated Pests and Diseases in Northern Italian Viticulture” was one of only 8 projects (out of 35) selected for publication at the Scripps EU Undergraduate Research Conference.
Her work analyzed how EU climate regulations addressing plant and pest disease intersect with the socio-economic realities of Northern Italian viticulture farmers. Yet another BAIS scholar doing amazing, timely, and impactful work. Congratulations, Kyley!

Join us tomorrow for a webinar on Afghanistan: What Happened and Why?
The U.S. war in Afghanistan, which has come to a chaotic conclusion, started before many current USF students were born. How was it that the world’s most powerful armed forces and its well-supplied Afghan allies were defeated by the much smaller Taliban? In what ways did the interplay between Afghan politics and U.S. intervention give rise to such a group? What are the moral and legal implications of responding to a terrorist attack by waging a twenty-year war? Why has there been so much more criticism towards President Biden for ending the war than there was towards President Bush for starting it? These are among the questions addressed regarding this tragic moment in a twenty-year conflict.
Panelists:
Khushal Arsala, former Afghan diplomat & USF Alumnus
Professor Sadia Saeed, Sociology
Professor Stephen Zunes, Politics
Moderator: Professor Aysha Hidayatullah, Theology and Religious Studies
