🌟 A Wonderful First Week of the School Year! 🌟

We had such a joyful week welcoming new students and families while reconnecting with our returning children and continuing the relationships we've built together. 💛

Our classrooms were filled with curiosity, exploration, laughter, and lots of new discoveries! From getting comfortable in new environments and meeting new friends to revisiting familiar routines and building connections with teachers, our children spent the week settling in at their own pace and making school feel like home. 🧩🎨

The first week is all about connection, belonging, and building a strong foundation for the year ahead. We're so proud of our little learners for all the brave first steps they took this week!

And this is just the beginning! More students will be joining us in the coming weeks, and we can't wait to welcome them and their families into the SOMACC community. ❤️

✨ What a way to wrap up the 2025-2026 school year! ✨

The final months of the school year were filled with learning, laughter, exploration, and plenty of special memories at SOMACC! 💛

🪴 A Field Trip to the Botanical Gardens - Our children had a wonderful time exploring nature, observing plants, and connecting their classroom learning to the world around them.

🚚 The Omega Class Food Truck Grand Opening - What better way to culminate a year of curriculum exploration than with a food truck created and brought to life by our very own Omega Class! From planning and designing to preparing and serving, the children put their learning into action. 🍕🍓🧃

🧺 A Special Picnic for Our Graduates - We celebrated our graduates with a special picnic as we reflected in their growth, friendships, and all the wonderful memories they made at SOMACC.

🎓 Graduation Day - We proudly celebrated our graduates as they marked this exciting milestone and prepared for their next adventure. We couldn't be prouder of everything they have accomplished!

👩🏻‍🏫 Staff In-Service Day - Our teachers and administrators wrapped up the year by coming together to reflect, learn, collaborate, and prepare for another wonderful year of learning and discovery.

And, of course, there were plenty of classroom adventures, creative projects, joyful moments, friendships, and opportunities to learn through play along the way! 🌈

As we look back on the 2025-2026 school year, we're grateful for all the children, families, teachers, and staff who made it special.

🌞 Summer adventures were in full swing for our youngest learners! 💙

This summer, our infants and toddlers set off on exciting field trips designed to spark curiosity, inspire, explore, and create joyful memories.

🐠 Our youngest infants enjoyed a visit to the Aquarium of the Bay, where they discovered fascinating sea creatures, watched colorful fish swim by, and observed playful marine life up close. The sights, sounds, and movement of the aquarium provided a rich sensory experience that encouraged wonder and early learning.

🐮 Our older infants and toddlers traveled to the Children's Creativity Museum for an immersive performance of Old MacDonald's Farm. This sensory-friendly introduction to live theater invited children to sing, dance, move, and interact with life-sized puppet animals throughout a fun-filled farmyard adventure. Their excitement filled the room as they used all their senses to become part of the story.

These experiences support our commitment to hands-on learning by encouraging language, social interaction, creativity, and confidence while exploring the world beyond the classroom. Most importantly, they gave our children the opportunity to learn through play, discovery, and shared experiences with their teachers, friends, and families.

We love watching our little explorers grow one adventure at a time! 💚✨

Summer Fun! ☀️⛅️

The first week of summer may have been a little gloomy, but that didn't stop us from making the most of every day!

Our children had a wonderful week exploring our play yards, engaging in hands-on play, and embarking on exciting adventures to the Yerba Buena Gardens Playground. One of the week's highlights was watching Circus Bella's AH HA! performance at Yerba Buena Gardens! 🎪✨ The children were captivated by the acrobatics, juggling, live music, and playful comedy that filled the gardens with smiles, laughter, and amazement.

Whether we were exploring outdoors, building friendships, strengthening our gross motor skills, or simply enjoying time together in the fresh air, each day was filled with opportunities for discovery, creativity, and joyful learning.

Here's to many more summer adventures ahead! 🌳🌈🌞☀️

🌟 Family Appreciation Event 🌟

What a wonderful night of fun, laughter, and community as we celebrated our families and the success of our annual Give for Kids campaign! 🎉

Families joined us for an evening filled with magic, balloon twisting, face painting, refreshments, and plenty of smiles. It was our way of showing appreciation for the families who are at the heart of our SOMACC community.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to our fundraiser. Your generosity helps ensure that we can continue providing an exemplary early childhood education program and enriching experiences for our young learners everyday.

We are also grateful to the families who attended and celebrated with us, and to our amazing vendors who helped make the event so special.

✨ Bay Area Discovery Museum Field Trip

Rain or shine, we had an amazing day exploring the Bay Area Discovery Museum! Our little adventurers had so much fun moving through all the Discovery Zones, from going through a river-themed obstacle course in River Run, to getting creative at Collage Corner, fishing for crabs at Bay Hall, and so much more! ✂️🦀

We explored Wobbleland, Discovery Beach, Gumnut Grove, How Things Work, Lookout Cove, Mud Kitchen, and the always beloved Tot Spot. 🏖️⚙️⛴️

This hands-on museum truly has something for every curious mind, whether your child loves building, imagining, experimenting, or simply exploring the world through play.

Despite the rainy weather, our day was full of smiles, learning, and joy. 🌧️

A special thank you to the Haas Fund and the BADM Connections Program for this wonderful offering, for the yellow school buses that made the trip possible, and to all the families who joined in on the fun! 🚌✨

Grateful for a place where curiosity leads the way and every corner sparks discovery! 🌈

🌟 Community Appreciation Spotlight 🌟

We are deeply grateful for the continued support of our amazing partners who help bring meaningful experiences to SOMACC students.

Last year, Telsra, a telecommunications provider with an office here in San Francisco, generously donated bicycles for our students - which they assembled themselves - giving children the joy of movement, exploration, and play. 🚲💙

This year, their employees went above and beyond once again, volunteering their time and energy to assemble beautiful planter boxes for our children and to help with planting as well. These hands-on garden spaces are allowing students to grow, explore, and expand their learning through planting and gardening experiences right at school. 🌱

A heartfelt thank you to Krista for organizing this effort, and to Mar, Robert, Russ, Vish, and Steven for bringing their building skills (even if they said they didn't have any 😉) and teamwork to life. Your support turned raw materials into something truly special for our school.

Moments like these remind us how powerful community partnerships can be, building not just structures, but opportunities, memories, and joy for our children. 💛

We recently honored Mother's Day/Parents' Day with so much love and joy! 💐💛

Our children put their hearts into creating special gifts for the important people in their lives, including beautiful arrangements of fresh succulents placed in vases. 🌱☀️ Each one was made with care, creativity, and lots of pride.

It was a heartwarming occasion filled with smiles, hugs, and gratitude as children shared their handmade surprises and honored the families who support and love them everyday. 💕

Last week was full of love and appreciation as we celebrated Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week 💛

We are so grateful for the dedication, care, patience, and joy our teachers and staff bring to our community every single day. Thank you for all that you do to support, guide, and nurture our children and families.

Throughout the week, we were spoiled with breakfast, lunch, snacks, boba drinks, flowers, succulents, massages, heartfelt messages, and thoughtful presents - all courtesy of our Parent Advisory Committees (PAC), families, and SOMACC administration. 🌹✨

To top it off, we celebrated with a special offsite staff appreciation party alongside our loved ones and friends, filled with food, drinks, games, laughter, and unforgettable memories together.

Thank you for making our staff feel so seen, valued, and loved!

This week we celebrated our annual Week of the Young Child! 🎉

The Week of the Young Child is a special time dedicated to recognizing the importance of early learning, young children, their families, and educators. It highlights the value of play-based, hands-on experiences that support children’s growth and development.

Our children enjoyed a wide variety of engaging experiences throughout the week, including fun dress-up days, music activities, and a delicious Taco Tuesday 🌮. They worked together to create imaginative projects with boxes, and explored art and science.

We were also excited to welcome Tree Frog Treks for an interactive learning experience, and we wrapped up the week with a wonderful field trip to the Children’s Creativity Museum.

It was a joyful week full of creativity, collaboration, discovery, and celebrating our youngest learners! 💛
