🇮🇹 In Italy, we don’t “eat” breakfast, lunch, or dinner! 😱🍝
In Italian, we say:

☕ FARE COLAZIONE → I have breakfast around 8 in the morning.
🥐 For breakfast, I eat a croissant.

🍝 PRANZARE → You have lunch around 1 o’clock.
🍝 For lunch, you always eat pasta.

🥣 CENARE → Maria has dinner around 8 in the evening.
🥣 For dinner, she often eats vegetable soup.

✨ Pay attention to the difference!
In Italian, we have three different verbs:

👉 fare colazione = to have breakfast
👉 pranzare = to have lunch
👉 cenare = to have dinner

❌ We don’t say: “mangio la colazione”
❌ We don’t say: “mangio il pranzo”
❌ We don’t say: “mangio la cena”

🇮🇹 Learning Italian also means learning these small but very important differences! 💬❤️

What about you? ☕🍝🥣
What time do you have breakfast, lunch, and dinner? 👇

🇮🇹

In italiano diciamo:

Abbiamo tre verbi diversi:

👉 fare colazione
👉 pranzare
👉 cenare

Tu cosa fai? ☕🍝🥣

Have you ever encountered Italian words that look exactly the same but mean completely different things? 🇮🇹👀

In Italian, context (and sometimes where you put the stress!) is everything.

For instance, depending on the context, leggere can mean the action "to read" or describe something as "light." Or take ancora—shift the stress, and it goes from meaning "still/yet" (ancóra) to "anchor" (àncora)! ⚓️ The same rule applies to condomini (residents) and condomini (apartment buildings).

Which of these pairs trips you up the most? Let us know below! 👇

Oppure prendete ancora—spostate l'accento, e passa dal significare "still/yet" (ancóra) a "anchor" (àncora)!

🇬🇧 Summer means gelato! But are you sure you are ordering your favorite flavors with the correct Italian pronunciation?

Here is how to order them like a true Italian (pay attention to the double consonants and the "C" sound!):

💚 Pistacchio (Pistachio)
The mistake: Saying it the English way ("Pistashio").
The rule: In Italian, "CH" makes a hard "K" sound.
🗣️ Pronounce it: Pee-stahk-kyo

🍫 Stracciatella (Vanilla with chocolate shards)
The mistake: Missing the double consonants.
The rule: Linger slightly on the double "C" and the double "L". The "I" is silent; it is just there to make the "C" soft!
🗣️ Pronounce it: Strah-chah-tel-lah

🌰 Nocciola (Hazelnut)
The mistake: Pronouncing the "I".
The rule: Just like in "stracciatella", the "I" is silent. It is only there to give the "C" a soft sound (like the "ch" in "cheese").
🗣️ Pronounce it: Noh-cho-lah

👉 What is your favorite gelato flavor? Let us know in the comments! 🎙️👇

🇮🇹 Estate significa gelato!

💚 Pistacchio
L'errore: Leggerlo come in inglese ("Pistashio").
La regola: In italiano, "CH" ha un suono duro, come una K.
🗣️ Pronuncia: Pi-stàk-kio

🍫 Stracciatella

🌰 Nocciola
