Hands-on, inquiry-based learning is an essential part of our science curriculum. Middle school students recently participated in dissection labs. 5th graders dissected a sheep heart as part of a study of cardiovascular and respiratory systems. 8th graders dissected a cow eye to gain a better understanding of the anatomy of the eye as they prepared to create scientific drawings of the eye. These hands-on experiences build knowledge about anatomy and physiology, nurture scientific curiosity, and foster an enthusiasm for learning.
