Today I am calling for a hearing and sending a formal letter of inquiry to San Francisco's public safety agencies regarding rearrests and parole. The system failed Hanako Abe and Elizabeth Platt on New Year's Eve, but what's even more tragic is that the failure to prevent their killing was not an isolated incident. San Francsicans deserve transparency, accountability, and public safety. It's past time they receive it.
