Every Minervan's story starts with their Residential Group.

Led by Residential Assistants, these groups are a student's first community at Minerva: roommates and neighbors, the first classmates they tour their rotation city with, learn residence hall life with, and cook their first meals alongside.

The RAs who lead them are student leaders and trusted guides who help their classmates adjust to a new community and city, alongside the dedicated Student Life team.

This week, RAs hosted the first ResGroup Meetings of the semester, where community within each group begins to take shape.

A sunny San Francisco brought the M30s out to Golden Gate Park for Field Day.

Our newest cohort, their families, and our staff came together for an afternoon of lunch from a Minervan-favorite spot, lawn games, and crafts. These hellos are the first of a million memories this class will be making.

Our newest graduate students have arrived.

Yesterday we celebrated the entering MDA and CDA Class of 2026 at Convocation, Minerva's official welcome to the community. As part of the ceremony, the cohort took part in Breaking Bread, a Minerva tradition that brings Minervans together to build connection and strengthen our community.

Move-in wrapped yesterday, the new swag is out, and Foundation Week is right around the corner. Families and students are buzzing, and so are we.

Meet Inhyeok Yim, an incoming student in Minerva's Master of Decision Making and Applied Analytics (MDA) program. He is an AI Engineer in South Korea and believes that as AI accelerates, the quality of human decisions matters more than ever. He chose the MDA for its decision-making curriculum and its global cohort.

His ambitions reach well beyond his own career. Inhyeok shares a passion in solving solving the conflicts that arise between divided groups: "I hope to leverage these insights to support decision-making processes that contribute to the peaceful reunification of South and North Korea."

The M30s are here, and we couldn't be more excited!

We just wrapped up move-in for our freshmen, and on Sunday we set aside an afternoon to celebrate the families who helped get them here.

The Residence Hall Welcome Center in San Francisco filled up for a Q&A panel led by Jamina Cole King, EVP of Advancement, with Rachel Kim (Coaching & Talent Development), McKenna Zerfas (CAPS), Professor Ty Robbins (Faculty/Academics), and TJ Kimball (Student Life, San Francisco). Together they walked through Foundation Week and all the ways Minerva supports students, from mental health and coaching to academics and settling into a new city.

Then the room came alive with conversation as parents met one another and our staff and faculty.

So glad you're all part of the community now. Here's to an amazing year ahead, M30!

Matthew Margolis, an M30 from Sherman Oaks, California, chose Minerva for its focus on experimentation and exploration, the forward-thinking approach he didn't find at traditional universities. He's drawn to exploring new cultures, with Tokyo at the top of his list, and ready to experience global immersion firsthand.

"Having welcomed exchange students into my home, I have seen the exhilaration they receive by being immersed in a new culture. I am excited to feel the depth of awe and interest I witness them feel."

First to arrive, first to say welcome.

Our Residential Assistants got to San Francisco early to train, learn the city, and get everything ready before the rest of their M30 community arrives this week.

As student leaders, they'll start building the community their classmates step into, show them around the city, and guide them through everything planned for Foundation Week.
