As we kick off a new school year, we’re looking for parents and caregivers who want to get involved and help make this another great year at Yick Wo.

Our PTO is powered by volunteers who give their time, ideas, and talents to support our students, teachers, events, enrichment programs, and school community.

And there are lots of ways to help! Whether you want to take on a role, help with an event, or simply pitch in when you have time.

The dads are BACK. Balls are FLYING. Beer is COLD. And the annual tradition at JoeD did NOT disappoint. 🏆

This year we leveled up in a big way — a huge thank you to Chef David from .world for joining us and somehow arriving with the largest plate of tacos any human has ever witnessed.

Every donation goes straight back to Yick Wo Elementary — so the dads basically funded field trips one pallino at a time 🙌

🍷✨ What a day in wine country! Yick Wo parents escaped to Sonoma for a Count-Me-In "Pour Decisions" outing, hosted by the dream team kinder parents & of . 🙌

This was just one of the incredible events that made our auction such a massive success — we smashed our $45K goal and raised over $74,000 for Yick Wo! 🎉 Every dollar goes directly back to supporting our kids and school community.

Our school's name is more than a name — and last week, we got to honor that. 🙏

We were proud to join and at 349 Third Street in SOMA to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Yick Wo v. Hopkins — the landmark 1886 Supreme Court ruling that established equal protection for all persons, citizens and non-citizens alike. That ruling was born right here in San Francisco, and its legacy lives on in our school's name every single day.

Thank you to for your support and for standing alongside our community in recognizing this history. And thank you to all the organizations who came together to make this commemoration happen — especially , , and the many Chinatown and Asian American community groups who have kept this story alive.

We are so proud that Yick Wo Elementary is part of this legacy. Our students carry his name — and now they know exactly what it means. ❤️🐼
