This week students in Atelier had the opportunity to visit with Mariah and along the Northern CA coast — a multigenerational creative project.

Fall semester is officially over and CCA is closed for the winter holiday. We’ll be taking a break here as well but before signing off… there’s one more announcement coming later today. We are hosting an extra special event coming in January as part of — highlighting the work and practices of local CCA Furniture alumni. Keep your calendars open on Friday January 24 📍

FRIDAY Field Trip to the in Richmond CA! We were very lucky to get a private tour led by Llisa Demetrios who shared the histories and personal stories of her grandparents, Ray and Charles Eames. One of their design philosophies centered on making the invisible visible — which the Eames Institute does so beautifully, surfacing the rich intersection of life and works as the heart of creative practice. Thanks to everyone at the Eames Institute for an inspiring + informative afternoon!

The Ronald and Anita Wornick Award offers students a significant scholarship for excellence in the art and craft of furniture design and the wood arts. The award is intended to recognize, nourish, and encourage talented students in the wood arts at California College of the Arts.

Recent work from our Atilier class with visiting artist .gong and co-taught with Students spent 5 weeks researching and listening to materials. Couldn’t be happier with the results.
