El Mes de la Herencia Nativa Americana se celebra cada noviembre para honrar la historia, la cultura, las tradiciones y las contribuciones de los pueblos originarios de Estados Unidos. Este mes también sirve para educar al público sobre los pueblos indígenas y reconocer los desafíos que han enfrentado y siguen enfrentando.

Native American Heritage Month is observed every November to honor the history, culture, traditions, and contributions of the first peoples of the United States. The month is also a time to educate the public about Indigenous peoples and to acknowledge the challenges they have faced and continue to face.

Thanks to the DEI committee and Librarian Maesta Karen for sharing their beautiful stories in the halls of Alvarado so that we can all appreciate them!

FOUR DAYS REMAINING IN OUR FALL ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN! The Alvarado PTA’s goal is to support every student in reaching their potential by augmenting the core curriculum, enhancing the school environment, and cultivating a sense of community. This is achieved through the organization of volunteers as well as monetary fundraising throughout the year.

The Fall Annual Fund is a direct request for monetary donations to give extra support to our teachers and fund programs that benefit all Alvarado students. These fundraising efforts directly subsidize literacy intervention staffing, computer science instruction, school beautification projects, and multiple community enrichment events. In concert, all of these initiatives provide our students with a well-rounded academic environment.

¡SOLO QUEDAN CUATRO DÍAS PARA QUE TERMINE NUESTRA CAMPAÑA ANUAL DE OTOÑO! El objetivo de la Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA) de Alvarado es apoyar a cada estudiante para que alcance su máximo potencial, complementando el currículo básico, mejorando el ambiente escolar y fomentando un sentido de comunidad.

La Campaña Anual de Otoño solicita donaciones para brindar apoyo adicional a nuestros maestros y financiar programas que benefician a todos los estudiantes de Alvarado. Estas iniciativas de recaudación de fondos subsidian directamente al personal de apoyo a la lectoescritura, la enseñanza de informática, proyectos de embellecimiento escolar y diversos eventos de enriquecimiento comunitario.

We are still reminiscing about another amazing Dia de Los Mu***os festival this past Sunday! Alvarado is so proud of the festival organizers, performers, volunteers, and all of the energetic attendees who contributed to this event’s success. With deep gratitude and memory for loved ones we have lost. 🧡

Friday, October 17 was the kickoff of Alvarado’s Annual Fund Campaign! 🎉

Our community came together for a joyful morning celebrating with staff, families, and students—followed by the PTA General Assembly, where families learned how the PTA supports our school every single day.

Public schools thrive when their communities do. Every dollar donated goes directly toward programs, enrichment, and resources that make Alvarado such a special place to learn and grow. It takes a village—and what an incredible one we have!

El viernes 17 de octubre dio inicio la Campaña Anual de Fondos de Alvarado. 🎉

Nuestra comunidad se reunió para una alegre mañana de celebración con el personal, las familias y los estudiantes, seguida de la Asamblea General de la PTA, donde las familias aprendieron cómo la PTA apoya a nuestra escuela a diario.

Las escuelas públicas prosperan cuando sus comunidades también. Cada dólar donado se destina directamente a programas, actividades de enriquecimiento y recursos que hacen de Alvarado un lugar tan especial para aprender y crecer. Se necesita un pueblo, ¡y qué increíble es el nuestro!

This weekend, Alvarado families came together for our Annual Workday—and the results were amazing! Parents rolled up their sleeves to build new shelves, w**d and beautify the garden, organize the play area, and tackle countless other projects that keep our school vibrant and welcoming.

A huge thank you to every parent who showed up and gave their time, energy, and care. ❤️

Este fin de semana, las familias de Alvarado se reunieron para nuestra anual Dia de Trabajo, ¡y los resultados fueron increíbles! Los padres se pusieron manos a la obra para construir nuevas estanterías, desherbar y embellecer el jardín, organizar el área de juegos y abordar innumerables proyectos más que mantienen nuestra escuela vibrante y acogedora.

Muchísimas gracias a todos los padres que asistieron y dedicaron su tiempo, energía y cariño. ❤️

Alvarado hosts our very own Girl Scout Troop, engaging in fun events throughout the year; food and coat drives, enriching learning experiences, and community-building.

Two new troop members pose in new blue Daisy smocks with paper daisies. Each color represents one of the Girl Scout Promises.

Big love to the Neurodiverse Cougars Affinity Group (NCAG). The group gathered Friday morning to connect, share, and support one another as parents of kids with unique strengths and ways of learning.

There’s nothing like being in community with people who get it — the challenges, the joys, and everything in between. Grateful for this space and the strength we find together.

Un gran cariño para el Grupo de Afinidad de Pumas Neurodiversos (NCAG). El grupo se reunió el viernes por la mañana para conectar, compartir y apoyarse mutuamente como padres de niños con fortalezas y formas de aprendizaje únicas.

No hay nada como estar en comunidad con personas que lo entienden: los desafíos, las alegrías y todo lo demás. Agradecidos por este espacio y la fuerza que encontramos juntos.

The first Alvarado Running & Walking Club meet-up was a great success. Parents came together to get moving and catch up with each other. Afterward, we stopped by Neighbor’s Corner to enjoy some well-earned treats.

We’ll be meeting every Monday at 7:55am at the Douglass Street entrance. Everyone is welcome—whether you want to run, walk, or just join the community.

La primera reunión del Club de Corredores y Caminantes de Alvarado fue todo un éxito. Los padres se reunieron para ponerse en movimiento y charlar. Después, pasamos por Neighbor’s Corner para disfrutar de unos merecidos caprichos.

Nos reuniremos todos los lunes a las 7:55 a. m. en la entrada de la calle Douglass. Todos son bienvenidos, ya sea que quieran correr, caminar o simplemente unirse a la comunidad.
