Sad day. Suzanne Tarasieve who has represented Ed Paschke in Europe for thr past 6 years has passed away. Suzanne was an incredibly wonderful woman and a huge supporter of the arts and Ed Paschke. In our last conversation she called Paschke “one of the greatest painters of the 20th Century.” R.I.P. https://www.suzanne-tarasieve.com/?lang=en

Last month, the world lost an absolutely wonderful person. A great dad, a fantastic artist and one of Ed Paschke’s dear buddies, Karl Wirsum. The two of them navigated art school and the subsequent early years of being a Chicago artist together, including a stint where they moved to Mexico together. As poor as my memory is, I still remember as a young kid going to Karl’s home and being mesmerized by all of his cool “toys.” Robots, space vehicles, small figures of creatures, just the goofiest and most fun items I’d ever seen. When you look at Karl’s work, you get the same reaction - FUN! The Wirsum piece pictured above hung on our wall for years. Friends would come over and all have the same reaction “WTF?” as they enthusiastically engaged in the piece. In a profession where too many people take themselves way too seriously, Karl’s art is a perfect balance - it just makes you smile. On top of that his family, like him, are all wonderful, generous, caring and just nice people. The best. His memorial is in a few days on June 26th. Thank you Karl. Lorri, Ruby and Zack. All the very best from the Sharon, me and my family and the Ed Paschke Foundation. Thinking of you.
