In historic move, SF supervisors vote to close juvenile hall by end of 2021
San Francisco becomes the first major city to shut down juvenile hall, supervisors said, under legislation passed Tuesday. The measure will end the practice of holding children in cells while they await a judge’s decision or for space to open in a foster or group home.
