PC is a community space where children, families and educators are invited to learn and grow together through movement, sensory experiences, and play.

Project Commotion is a San Francisco-based non-profit organization welcoming ALL children between the ages of 0 months to 18 years, and their families. We strive in particular to support under-served families of children with special needs, as well as caretakers and educators, through the development of physical, sensory, and self-awareness.

At Las Luciérnagas, our preschoolers are building friendships through hands-on exploration! This week, friends worked together to test vehicles and trains with tubes and cardboard, discovering how they roll, fit, and balance down the ramp. Learning and growing together makes every day special! 🚗🚂✨

Culture is power — and it is medicine.

When artists and culture bearers help communities reclaim their stories, something profound happens: neighborhoods grow stronger, people heal, and local pride becomes a foundation for collective action. That’s not a metaphor. Arts programming demonstrably improves health outcomes, keeps youth engaged in school, anchors housing stability, and builds the sense of place that makes a community worth advocating for.

Creativity cannot thrive on scarcity — and neither can the communities that depend on it.

As the California Arts Council marks its 50th year, join us in calling for $50 million in funding. Because investing in arts and culture means investing in the health, resilience, and boundless future of every Californian.

At Project Commotion, we believe in the power of movement to support whole-child development—body, mind, and social understanding. 💙 This recent study from the University of Washington reminds us that babies learn by doing, using their own motor experiences to make sense of the world around them.
Every grasp, reach, and exploration isn’t just about physical skills; it’s a foundation for social cognition and learning. When we create opportunities for hands-on play and movement, we’re nurturing curious, confident learners. 🌟
Huge thanks to the author for sharing this valuable insight—because every shared moment, every toy, and every movement counts! Let’s keep fostering environments where children can move, explore, and grow.
