Sequential Artist Spotlight: Camilo Sánchez / Monokoi

New artist interview featuring the Prophet-6: Camilo Sánchez is a Colombian artist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based in Los Angeles. Sánchez has collaborated with artists including Latin Grammy and Grammy winners like Manuel Medrano, Diamante Eléctrico, Walt Anderson of Kool & The Gang, and Mireya Ramos of Flor de Toloache. His musical journey has taken him to stages across the Americas, Australia, and Europe, including Coachella, Vive Latino, Austin City Limits, Estéreo Picnic, and Cosquín Rock.

Monokoi is Sánchez’s solo project, where Latin rooted sounds meet alternative soul-pop, R&B, and analog experimentation. His forthcoming debut album, Geometría del Universo, features eleven songs written and produced entirely by Sánchez. The new single “Planetas,” created around the sonic world of the Prophet-6, is out on all platforms, ahead of the album’s release on October 1, 2026.

We chatted with Camilo on how the Prophet-6 was used in his music:

“Sequential has been present in my productions since I first started working with the Tempest. Today, the Prophet-6 is my go-to, an essential part of my studio and one of the first instruments I reach for when I want to explore a new sonic direction.

Almost every synthesizer sound on my new Monokoi single, “Planetas,” was recorded with the Prophet-6. I used it for pads, a sequenced and panned arpeggio, melodic leads, layered synth basses, atmospheric sounds, and subtle textures. Some parts were doubled, while others were processed through analog pedals and additional effects to push the original sounds into entirely different spaces."

"When I first sat down with the Sequential Fourm, I wasn’t thinking about making a preset library. I was just taken by how immediate and musical the instrument felt. The more time I spent with it, the more it inspired me to write, improvise, and explore. Before long, it had become the primary and only instrument behind my latest album, 'A Brief Odyssey'.

These 29 patches grew naturally out of that process. They’re less a collection of 'programmed sounds' and more snapshots of a creative journey—pads, leads, basses, plucks, sequences, textures, and evolving atmospheres that I found myself returning to while making music.

Every sound in this video begins dry. As each performance unfolds, I gradually bring in Ableton Live’s Echo and Valhalla Supermassive for delay and reverb so you can hear both the raw character of the patch and how it comes alive with a little space and ambience. I intentionally chose effects that are easy for anyone to use: Ableton’s Echo is included with Live, and Valhalla Supermassive is completely free."

Sequential Artist Spotlight: C.M. Samuels
New artist interview featuring the Pro 2 and Mopho: C.M. Samuels (Christopher Samuels) is a Detroit-based musician, producer, and sound designer whose solo work blends electronic, industrial, ambient, and cinematic influences through immersive compositions and detailed sound design. Over the past two decades, he has recorded, toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, produced and mixed records for other artists, and more recently expanded into film scoring. His debut solo release, 'After Selection', explores themes of transformation, identity, and the relationship between humans and technology.

In addition to his solo work, Samuels is a member of Ritual Howls and Mission to the Sun, where he composes, programs, and performs using a blend of synthesizers, sampling, acoustic instrumentation, and experimental production techniques.

"My first DSI/Sequential instrument was the Mopho Desktop, which I still own and use today. I picked it up over a decade ago while on tour and immediately connected with its sound and workflow. Shortly after that, I added the Pro 2 to my setup and it quickly became one of the most inspiring instruments in my studio. The depth of the modulation system and sound design capabilities kept me constantly experimenting and discovering new ideas. Since then I’ve owned and worked with a lot of synthesizers, but the Mopho and Pro 2 have remained constants in my studio. They’ve found their way onto solo releases, Mission to the Sun records, and Ritual Howls albums."

Sequential Artist Spotlight: Adam Berenson
New artist interview featuring the Rev2, Prophet XL, Pro 3 SEand OB-6:

Adam Berenson is a composer/pianist of chamber, solo, and orchestral works, based in the suburbs of Philadelphia. He has released more than 90 albums of improvisational and concert works—with various ensembles and as a solo pianist. Three of his previous recordings were released by Mighty Quinn Productions (now inactive as a label for his work), and nearly all of his catalog is now available on his own label, Dream Play. In 2025, NEOS, the German label for contemporary avant-garde classical music, released a double CD of his music titled 'Everything That No One Ever Saw'.

Mr. Berenson is currently a faculty member of the Settlement Music School in South Philadelphia, where he teaches piano, jazz piano, and theory. We chatted with Adam on how Sequential instruments are used in his music:

"I chose the Rev 2 as my first proper analog synthesizer because I grew up listening to the Prophet-5—extensively on Genesis and Pat Metheny Group albums—and I had always wanted a Prophet. Finally, in 2019, I had both a practical need for a first-rate polyphonic analog synthesizer and the means to purchase one. One reason I could afford it is that I still believe the Rev2 is easily the best deal extant in the world of synthesizers. You're effectively buying a 16-voice, stereo Oberheim Xpander, with fine onboard effects and an exquisite 5-octave Fatar keybed. That fifth octave is very significant; without it, I might have considered the module and a separate MIDI controller. In my opinion, the Rev2 feels more like the Prophet-5 I imagined than the Prophet-5 itself does—and it's in stereo, with modulation possibilities the original could never dream of. The sound itself can only be that of a Prophet. For me, analog filters and oscillators are what matter, and of course the Rev2 has them. Only the tuning function is digital—but tuning stability is only audible when it fails, and the Rev2's digital tuning ensures it never does. And there's always the 'slop' function to dial in old-fashioned instability if desired."

Sequential Artist Spotlight: Steven Alexander Ryan - New artist interview featuring the Prophet Rev2:

Steven Alexander Ryan, a.k.a “ASIAN STEVE” is a founding member of The Black Queen. Aside from writing, producing, and performing, he lends his talents as a live touring technician to a myriad of the world’s most respected artists.

We chatted with Steven on how the Prophet Rev2 is used in his music:

[Sequential] What made you choose the Rev2?

[Steven] I remember the first time I touched a Prophet VS and Prophet-600. Both were beautiful and alien at the same time. I was mostly (mostly) in soft-synth land at the time. Their design unlocked this subconscious feeling that was near impossible to accomplish with a computer. I wanted more voices and landed upon the Prophet Rev-2 16 voice.

New album by Robert Rich and Michael Stearns "Reunion of Breath and Waves" featuring the Prophet-6, Trigon-6, Prophet 12 and Prophet X:

Robert Rich: "Sequential synths are featured heavily throughout. The opening chords on the album (and the big floating pads throughout the album, actually) are from the Prophet X. The "tambura" drone on track 7 is Trigon-6. The lead arpeggio on track 3 is Prophet 12. The deep bass drone on track 8 is Prophet-6."
