Gateway Public Schools

Middle school is such a pivotal chapter in a young person’s life — a time of discovering who they are, how they want to show up in the world, and the impact they hope to make in their communities.

As our 8th graders prepare to leave Gateway Middle, they spent a day off campus volunteering and giving back across San Francisco. From Fort Mason to local food banks, Alamo Square, and Glide Memorial, our advisories showed up with compassion, teamwork, and a commitment to service.

We’re so proud of the way these students are already making a difference in the communities around them.

As we approach the end of the school year, our campuses are proudly showcasing the incredible work of our students! One highlight is the 9th Grade Social Movements Exhibition, where students explored the history and impact of social movements to better understand how issues evolve over time — and to propose thoughtful recommendations for the future. Family and friends came together to see their curiosity, research, and vision for creating positive change.

Our annual Gateway Middle School carnival was a hit! As we approach our final weeks of school, we thank all our amazing students for their hard work this year. The Marine Mammal Center and Gateway Middle School continue their annual partnership focused on ocean conservation and environmental stewardship. 🐋🌊🪼

ConservationCon is a special opportunity for the Ocean Ambassadors (OA) community to come together, celebrate student learning, and showcase the impactful work students have completed throughout the school year through their “Call to Conserve” projects. Ocean Ambassadors from schools across the Bay Area gather to present their Calls to Action in a showcase-style event while also participating in an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the nation’s largest marine mammal hospital.

This year, seven outstanding 6th grade students proudly represented Gateway Middle School. Congratulations to these young scholars for pursuing their passions, raising awareness about ocean conservation, and making meaningful contributions to their communities!

Our students turned curiosity into impact! After researching important issues in their communities and beyond, they partnered with organizations making a difference through hands-on volunteer work. The evening culminated in powerful presentations where students shared their insights, experiences, and calls to action with parents and the community. 🌍💡🤝

✨ Gateway Middle School Highlights:
- 🏈 We were thrilled to host NFL legend Marshall Faulk during his visit to San Francisco as part of pre–Super Bowl activities. Mr Faulk presented at select schools in partnership with the Truth About Drugs Foundation.
- 🧪 Students continue to put learning into action with hands on projects — an incredible opportunity for inspiration and impact!
