Happy Chinese Lantern Festival 正月十五元宵节

The Lantern Festival 元宵节 (yuán xiāo Jié) is a Chinese holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month. It falls on March 3rd in 2026.

元宵 (yuán xiāo) is a food eaten during the Lantern Festival. It is made of a sweet filling (usually black sesame, red bean, or peanut paste) and rolled in glutinous rice flour until it forms a round ball.

Lunar New Year (农历新年 nóng lì xīn nián) celebrates the arrival of the spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar. It is also referred to as the Spring Festival (春节 chūn jié) It is the most important festival in many East Asian cultures, including China, South Korea, and Vietnam, as well as overseas Chinese communities worldwide.

The 2026 Lunar New Year falls on February 17, 2026 in the Gregorian calendar. 2026 brings the Year of the Horse 马年 (mǎ nián).
