One of our favorite parts of our work is getting to see what happens after the planning and training. ❤️
Beginning last spring, we had the opportunity to collaborate with a school team to align behavioral expectations across 12 classrooms, ultimately landing on three simple, shared expectations:
Be Respectful & Kind. Be Safe. Be Ready to Learn.
Visiting campus, it was so rewarding to see these expectations posted throughout the school—and, even more importantly, to hear and see staff embracing the language across environments.
While the 3 core expectations are the same building-wide, it was amazing seeing the differentiation of the expectations across the learning environments…..Some included images to support emerging readers, some were individualized and placed on student desks, others were placed in binders for a quick review before each Self & Match System rating, some were written on sticky notes as the class co-created the expectations (soon to be transcribed in marker), and there were some expectations lessons embedded right within the morning meeting slide decks for daily practice.
Consistency matters. Shared language matters. And seeing it move from a planning conversation to everyday practice is pretty special.
