It wouldn’t be the Senses Journey without a visit to — this incredible space was the perfect way to kick off our week focused on the sense of hearing 🔊👂

As part of our study of the Silk Road we studied the history of tea in the region. After learning about tea as a crop and its historical role in medicine, we had a wonderful tea workshop with ☕️ We got to explore a variety of herbal components and make our own tea blends to drink that day and to bag up to take home!

We kicked off our Senses Journey at — a perfect place to think about our senses and how they create our experience of the world around us. We even got to go through the Tactile Dome which was a real highlight!

The Street Bird Gallery is open! Our Identity Portraits are one of our favorite Nomad traditions with each student designing and directing a photoshoot to showcase the aspects of their identity they want to share with our community. Thanks to for the incredible photos 📸

We were so lucky to get to visit .works.sf to learn about their frame-making process as part of our own project to build and decorate frames for our Identity Portraits. Here’s what one Nomadian had to say after the visit: “I saw lots of beautiful frames that were works of art in their own right. I appreciate that the fact they make frames that are unique and they really make the art look even nicer.” 🖼️

We had such a fun time at our fall camping trip last week! We’re always amazed at how close we feel as a community after a few nights sleeping out under the stars (and fog!) ⛺️

It’s that time of year again—time for all Nomadians to go through our annual tool training so we’re ready to hit the ground running for all our projects 🔨 💥

The frogs are back! Last spring we watched these froggy pals transform from tadpoles and after a summer vacation they’re back in the Nomad Depot. This morning we made plans to name them (despite being unable to tell them apart) and gave them a delicious fly breakfast to welcome them back 🐸

As part of our Boundaries Mini-Journey today was all about topology and the fortune cookie! 🥠 All our musings led us designing our own fortune cookie shapes complete with our own fortunes

We kicked off our school year last week with a giant scavenger hunt that took us all over Golden Gate Park tracking down clues and solving puzzles—it was a great first adventure!

Our intrepid teaching team reunited this week in the Nomad Depot! They’ve got a full agenda with adventures to scheme, curriculum to prep and supplies to organize to make sure it’s another great school year ✨🐦✨
