An Important Community Announcement
We've been made aware of an individual falsely claiming to be an employee of A Path That Fits. This person has been engaging in harmful and racist behavior on their personal social media accounts.
We want to be absolutely clear: This individual is not, and has never been, an employee or representative of our company. Their hateful views do not reflect our values in any way.
Despite multiple reports to Facebook, their platform policies prevent us from being able to remove a false employment claim from a user's personal profile. We are taking this public step to ensure our community knows that we do not support this person or their beliefs.
We are a company that values and respects all individuals, and we stand against racism and discrimination in all forms. We are committed to fostering a safe and respectful community, both online and off. We thank you for bringing this to our attention.

So many of us feel trapped in our never-ending work cycles, unsure of how to take the leap into something more authentic and meaningful. Caught up in the pressure to achieve financial stability or prestige, we often neglect our core values and skills — the things that make us feel most vibrantly alive.
Sandra Possing, Life Coach and I talk about how to find your calling and channel it into a successful career on her most recent Podcast episode. Her podcasts always emphasize practical tools that listeners can put into action so I demonstrated a tool for discovering your gifts. I also shared a handful of client case studies that illustrate how they made successful career pivots. Have you heard of Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS)? I have found it to be one of the most powerful tools to help clients get unstuck and connected to their deepest confidence and wisdom.
I joined Jenny Blake on the Pivot podcast to talk about how I use Internal Family Systems to help coaching clients build more successful careers. We talked about the IFS model of therapy/coaching and how it helps us work through conflicting parts of ourselves to get to our wise and confident true self.
The following example highlights the power of parts work...
Would you rather listen to your inner critic saying, "I don't think you're ready to take this step forward in your career. I think you need to take another certification program, get more experience, wait until the economy is better, etc."
-or-
Would you rather listen to your true self saying, "You know you want this. Trust your instincts. You are strong and capable. You've done hard things before and you always rise to the occasion. I believe in you and it's okay if you do your best and it doesn't work out as planned. You'll grow so much from doing this."

Eeeeek. That was vulnerable. And exactly the type of conversation I love to engage. Jenny Blake had the edgy idea to coach each other live on the Pivot podcast as we identify the "board members in our brain" aka "the competing voices in our head" and navigate our way toward more inner alignment and clarity. This is one of our favorite coaching activities and easy for anyone to do as they follow our conversation as a guide. Check it out!

I just received a notification that we reached 1,000 enrollments in the Career Pathfinder Coaching Program. What!?!? I never thought that would happen when I created the online course back in 2013 when e-learning was just starting to ramp up.
It took me a year to develop the content for the first version (videos, step-by-step career change guidance, coaching activities, career assessments, case studies, interviews, templates, and a downloadable workbook). I’ve since updated the entire course at least 5 times until landing on the current format that seems to strike the right balance of deep inner work and practical results. Our clients want to do work that is meaningful and lucrative and our coaching program balances both of those goals.
It’s been amazing to watch the coaching program evolve over the last decade and to digest the reminder that it takes time and ongoing commitment for things to grow. It gets me excited when I think about where it will be in another 10 years, and what else I could start now that will grow into something beautiful if I stick with it for a decade.
What about you… what idea/calling/project/dream are you sitting with that could grow into something beautiful if you were to commit to creating it and nurturing it? Let me know in the comments because sharing your intention deepens your commitment to it.
I’m grateful to all of the clients that trusted me and the A Path That Fits coaching team to guide them to discover their calling and build more authentic and meaningful careers. Thank you. I’m flooded with countless memories of career changes and pivots, new businesses started, passion projects turned into successful careers, and the central theme of people bringing more of their gifts and passions to life.
I’m also endlessly grateful to the team of coaches and collaborators that have helped to launch, administer, promote, and support the Career Pathfinder Coaching Program. I owe a massive thanks to Daniel Fine who has been my longtime coaching partner, advisor, collaborator, and dear friend. Thank you to Emily (Stanek) Pollak who currently does an amazing job of co-leading the program with me. Thank you to Gracie Miller, Nicole Sheikh, Lisa Lewis Miller, Audrey Chrisler, Matti Bautista, Iris Charabi, Eileen Chang, Markell Morris 마켈, and Frank Ma who have all either coached clients directly or helped to administer the program. Thank you to Jenny Blake and Horst Govin, Career Coach for all the people you’ve referred to the program over the years.
I’m excited to coach the next 1,000 people to discover what they are built to do :-)

We just turned the tables and I interviewed Jenny Blake on her very own Pivot Podcast:)
I walked away from my first interview on the Pivot podcast feeling like I had a million questions about Jenny's career that I wanted to ask her. So she agreed to let me turn the tables and interview her in this "Mic Flip" episode.
Jenny talked about why she left Google so many years ago and how she navigates the biggest challenges and pain points in her career. Her career journey is an inspiring example of how to listen deeply and muster the courage the follow your calling, even in the midst of a recession.

Is it possible to recession-proof your career?
We’ve been getting an increasing number of questions from clients about what the looming recession means for their careers, and how to navigate it. Questions like:
“I’m unhappy with my current career but I’m starting to worry that this is a risky time to make a change. Should I stay in a job I don’t like or try to find a better one?”
“Is this a bad time to follow my calling? Should I put my dreams on hold and be more practical?”
“How do I recession-proof my career?”
I wrote an article that answers those questions and shares some strategies for how to manage your career in a recession. Check it out here: https://apaththatfits.com/blog/how-to-recession-proof-your-career/
