If you feel extra stressed out because you’re dealing with burnout and trying to keep all of your personal and professional plates spinning right now, on top of it being the holidays, I get it.

Whether it’s the stress of buying the perfect present or managing the amount of time you’re able to spend with family, or the uncertainty of the current state of our economy and how much time you can spend away from work, I know intimately how challenging the holidays can be for us people-pleasers and over-achievers.

Even as CEO of my startup, there was one year when I was so focused on achieving my year-end goals for the company that it was almost impossible for me to take breaks or be totally present with my family. I struggled to set boundaries at home and work and I felt like I wasn’t able to focus on either fully.

Ultimately, I decided to reach out for extra support. My coach and I worked together to come up with a plan for how I would manage my time, what values I was prioritizing and how to have hard conversations and create boundaries with both my family and my colleagues.

For years, I defined myself by my ambition, which I equated to the attainment of money and power in my career. Ambition made me feel hungry, tired and like there was never enough money/time/status. ⁠

Now, I'm shifting my mindset around ambition and wondering if I can re-define it to more closely align with this season of my life. I came across the term "meaningful ambition" and it resonated with me. What if instead of equating ambition with money & power, I could shift the definition to center on community and creativity? ⁠
