We’re thrilled to celebrate SFUHS student Jacob Shaul, who brought his passion for technology and social impact to our Breakthrough Summerbridge students this past summer through his incredible nonprofit, ! Inspired by his own transformative coding experiences in middle school, Jacob founded this entirely high school-run program to ensure all students, especially those in underrepresented and under-resourced communities, have access to free, high-quality technology education.

This summer, Jacob and his team of dedicated teen volunteers lit up our classrooms, teaching our students not just how to code, but how to dream bigger and see themselves as future innovators.🤩

🌟 A little late but…What a way to wrap up an incredible summer! 🌟

Our amazing 9th graders just graduated, and we couldn’t be prouder! ✨ But Celebration was for ALL our incredible 6th-9th grade students and TFs who made this summer unforgettable!

From showcasing their hard work at Expo to delivering heartfelt reflection speeches that had us all in our feelings 🥹, students have shown us what dedication looks like. And can we talk about our 8th grade detectives who solved the mystery of who stole Dara’s steak?! 🕵️‍♀️🥩 Their mock forensic investigation skills were on point!

The energy was absolutely electric with performances from our dance and step electives - talk about talent! 💃🕺

This summer has been filled with so much growth, laughter, and “aha!” moments. Watching these incredible young minds learn, create, and shine has been the highlight of our year!

Here’s to a summer of hard work that felt like fun and fun that turned into real learning. We’re so excited to see where all our students go next! 🚀

🎓✨ COLLEGE & CAREER DAY WAS EPIC! ✨🎓
Our students explored their futures today and it was absolutely incredible!
7️⃣th graders explored SFSU with an adventure-packed campus tour and scavenger hunt 🔍🏛️
8️⃣th graders lived their best college life at UC Berkeley - touring the stunning campus AND experiencing authentic dining hall eats 🍽️🐻
9️⃣th graders got a taste of the corporate world at Workday! From insightful panels to problem-solving challenges, snack breaks, AND yes... they went down an actual slide! 🛝🏢
Watching our students dream big and discover new possibilities never gets old. The future is bright with these amazing minds! 🌟

Olympics day at Breakthrough was so much fun! 🏆

Students crushed it in relay races and soccer, had an epic spelling bee battle, and went ALL OUT in water balloon fights 🎈Plus they got to pie the admin - talk about the ultimate prize! 🥧

The energy was wild - so much cheering, laughing, and spirit! Students competed their hearts out and hyped each other up, it was incredible to see ✨

🎵✨ SUMMER BEATS DAY WAS INCREDIBLE! ✨🎵

We had the amazing team from come through and show us the healing power of hip hop! 🎤💫

From learning to express ourselves through rap to creating our own beats, we got to tap into our creativity and discover new ways to tell our stories. The energy was unmatched as we crafted rhymes and found our voices! 🔥

Huge shoutout to Beats Rhymes and Life for bringing their transformative Hip Hop Therapy to our community - using culture and creativity to heal, empower, and uplift young people! 🙌🏾

Spirit Week was absolutely unmatched! 🖤 Started strong with blackout day - we looked so good in all black, it was honestly unfair. Then we got cozy for PJ day because comfort is key! Day 3 had us getting creative with anything BUT a backpack (shoutout to Serena who carried their stuff in a shopping cart 😂).

But Friday’s spirit day? That’s when we really brought the energy! Every club came through with their cheer, banner, and skit, and it was pure chaos in the best way possible. The competition was REAL, and the vibes were immaculate ✨
