Amy Obenski has been playing the piano and singing since she was six years old. With a degree in classical piano performance, and over seventeen years in jazz and classical choir, Amy started writing, performing and recording her own songs. She began to take more and more students and has now been teaching for over twenty years. She received training in piano pedagogy while working as a piano teac

She started as an absolute beginner with me at eleven. And she just graduated from high school and won the concerto competition at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts. 🥳 Constantly amazed by her and I can't be more proud.

Jenny B-g is in my studio working on her first EP! It's sounding great and I'm so proud. I've discovered it is incredibly rewarding to help others with their recording projects. Every human has a "super power" and mine is the ability to complete anything from start to finish, especially in the musical realm.

This song is so much more complex than I imagined. I learned this without any sheet music. I had a really fun time listening to it over and over to pick out these parts, make it my own on the piano, and get my right and left hand to cooperate. That's more of a challenge for me without written music to look at.

Recently I helped my voice student, Aline Younge, record her first album. She’s 79. Recording an album was on her bucket list. She started taking voice lessons with me about seven years ago. In 2021 she asked me to record her album and I was so thrilled to help her out! I recorded and mixed the entire thing, and I added some piano and harmonies. I coordinated the artwork, mastering and printing.

I’ve recorded a large amount of my own albums myself, and mixed six of them. This is the first time I’ve done it for someone else. Next year, on her 80th, she wants to perform a concert in a slinky dress with me on keys. I can’t think of anything more inspiring.
