Our Vision

The Frances Thompson Education Foundation (FTEF) nurtures black trans students and funds academic discourse and theory. We will do this through direct scholarships to black trans students, and through the 2021 launch of The Frances Thompson Academic journal. Our number 1 goal is to make college accessible for every black trans child in the country. Every day college students are faced with the reality of homelessness, food insecurity, and insurmountable debt. These issues become tenfold for Black trans and non-binary college students. After struggling through undergrad and currently fielding through Graduate school in the south, founder Desi Hall knew that there had to be better than this. Many barriers make college inaccessible for black trans and non-binary youth, but the Thompson Foundation intends to remove the financial one.
