Women make up the majority of the healthcare workforce, yet remain underrepresented in many leadership and specialized medical fields.

Women account for only about 38% of physicians in the U.S. and less than 20% of hospital CEOs.

The gap in medicine isn’t talent — it’s representation, opportunity, and leadership. 🩺✨

We need to teach puberty before misinformation does.

In my classroom, I start teaching kids about puberty in 2nd grade. Some girls develop breast buds as young as 6 years old. By 3rd grade, I already hear kids talking about dieting and changing their bodies.

They deserve to know that weight gain, body changes, and a rounder belly can be healthy signs of growth — not something to fear.

What age do you think puberty education should start? Would this have helped you as a kid?

Our “Period Power” virtual puberty workshop covers body changes for humans assigned female at birth. Led by Konika Ray Wong, M.Ed., founder of Girl Power Science and author of “One in a Million: A First Book About Periods,” this workshop is designed to educate and empower kids and their trusted grown-ups.

We’ll start with a read-aloud of our book, enjoy an interactive science lesson (Konika has been a K–8 science teacher for two decades!), and end with a fun science experiment.

Perfect for kids ages 7–12 and their trusted grown-ups.

Summer camp season is almost here ☀️

And for a lot of girls, that can also mean:
their first period happening away from home for the very first time.

Most girls don’t want a BIG awkward talk.
They just want to feel:
💖 prepared
💖 informed
💖 less nervous
💖 like they know what to do

That’s why I created Period Power — a fun virtual class for girls + caregivers with:
📚 story time
🔬 science time
😂 silly time
…and real support around growing up.

Wednesday, May 20
5:00–5:45 PM PT

Led by Konika Ray Wong, M.Ed.

This is me trying to get my middle school students across the street every day!

Some people say they see a snake and I don’t see it.

Do you see it?

😮 People are shocked when I tell them puberty education should start in 2nd grade.

😮 The average age girls start puberty is age 8 -9.

😮 Every year some of my female students start puberty at age 6!

😮 Some of my students start their period in third grade.

😮 Kids start comparing their body to their classmates and feeling insecure.

😮 It’s easy to build body confidence by beginning puberty education early.

What do you want for teacher appreciation week?

“I’m not gonna use it for another 20 years”

What is “it”?

My va**na 🤣

That’s some valid s**t actually 💯

Hope her mom gets her a dark chocolate cake cause some magnesium will help her butt cramps 🫶🏾😊

Periods are starting earlier these days especially for girls of color so my daughter and I wrote the first kids book about periods for ages 4 and up.
