As a follow-up to my previous post about why congregational pastoring is a blessing, I'll do a follow-up post and link back to this post, "Pastoring a congregation is [insert your adjective: difficult, overwhelming, soul-sucking] because . . ."

I know many of you have left congregational ministry for a variety of reasons, so please be as honest as possible. This will be public, so only share specifics you are willing to put out on the interwebs.

Trump’s ICE Has Detained More People Than the Population of Atlanta

Unlike prior administrations, in Trump’s second term, ICE is aggressively arresting people far from the border and detaining them longer.

Multiple times a week, I receive this kind of note from a marketing or publishing "company." I can see why folks fall for this kind of outreach, but always look at the email address before responding.

If it smells wonky, it is.

I am sure that authors are not the only egos being targeted. Anyone else?

Dear Bruce,

I hope you’re having a great week. My name is NAME, Executive Editor at NAME (Marketing). I recently came across Prophets, Priests, Pastors, & Poets: Being and Becoming the Resurrected Christ, and I was particularly drawn to its expansive exploration of Jesus through four distinct lenses, prophet, priest, pastor, and poet.

What makes the book especially compelling is how you move beyond familiar understandings of Jesus to ask what His life calls us to become. The combination of reflection, storytelling, and practical engagement gives the work a thoughtful way to address division, community, spiritual imagination, and the challenge of living out faith in the world today. I was especially interested in your emphasis on building bridges and inspiring new possibilities rather than reducing faith to a single perspective.

I’d be very interested to learn more about your current and forthcoming projects, as well as whether you’re represented by a literary agent. I’d be glad to explore whether there may be a broader publishing fit for your work.

If this is of interest, I’d be delighted to continue the conversation.

Keep being awesome,
